This week we started the first unit, "Who We Are ". It will take about two months. Each week, we will work
on one topic for this unit until it is finished. These days, we have been busy talking about our heads.
Through observational materials such as mirrors, pictures, magazines, and books, the children observed what
is inside the head and its usefulness.
Do all children have the same color of hair, eyes, and skin? They were some of the questions answered in
class after observation.
Math: We measured the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth. We measured our head circumference and recorded
it. Comparisons were then made.
Prescriptive exercises: Each child made his own portrait, looking at his face through a mirror. Then, on a pre-
designed head, they placed the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and eyebrows. The result was impressive! Laughing,
angry, and sad faces decorated our classroom.
Music: We listened and learned the song "Head, shoulders, knees, and toes..."
This week, we couldn't help but mention World Animal Day. Through rich surveillance material, we saw and
talked about animal rights. Love, respect, and protection are basic elements that we must provide to our
animal friends. We noticed that with their tails, they show us their emotions (joy, anger, and fear).
Αυτήν την εβδοµάδα µπήκαµε στην πρώτη θεµατική µας ενότητα (“Who we are”) και ξεκινήσαµε
hair, eyes, ears, mouth, nose).
Στη
συνέχεια, έφτιαξαν ένα πρόσωπο µε πλαστελίνη, τραγουδήσαµε το «Head, eyes, ears mouth and nose»-

Dear Parents,
This week we entered our first unit ("Who we are") and started by discussing with the children about
ourselves and specifically our facial features (head, hair, eyes, ears, mouth, and nose). The children named
their facial features as well as their utility and created a face out of various materials (buttons, pom-poms, and
pipe wire). Then they created a face with plasticine. We sang "Head, eyes, ears, mouth, and nose"—
equivalent to "Head, shoulders, knees, and feet"—and played a music-motor game based on the song "One
Little Finger" by pointing similar features. At the end of the week, they drew on a transparent box the
characteristics of a classmate and played the "mirror" (imitation game).
