INTRUDUCTION
Information Technology (IT) is a set of related fields that encompass computer
systems, software, programming languages and data and information processing
and storage. IT became popular after it was used in a report to the UK
government by Dennis Stevenson in 1997, and then in the revised National
Curriculum for England, Wales and North Ireland in 2000. It was introduced in
Kenya IN 2005. Information technologies have become a significant factor in
development, having a profound impact on the political, economic, and social
sectors of many countries. It enables real time communication amongst people,
allowing them immediate access to new information. IT plays an important role in
enhancing dialogue and understanding amongst youth and between the
generations. There is an increasing emphasis on using information technologies in
the context of global youth priorities, such as access to education, employment
and poverty eradication. Young people are beneficiaries of increased access to
ICT, in particular through improvements in education and social development.
Young people may also play an important role in the development of the

information society, through their ability to learn to use and develop IT and its
applications.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
IT involves use of gadgets like smartphones, computers, tablets. Social networking
of youth have a vital role in the advent and development of psychopathology.
The youth are radically subjected to idealized self-shows. This poses danger to the
youngsters’ potential to appear superficial, but the awful effect may depend on a
form of social media interaction. They are likely to develop mental health issues,
cyder victimization, depression and self-harm and other enormous impacts that
arise from the use of social media.

AIM OF THE STUDY


The aim of my study is to come with a ways that will enable the young generation
To use IT without the fear of being victimized.

OBJECTIVES
The purpose of the study is to find out the impact of IT on the young generation.
The specific objectives are:
 Social networking among the youth
 The challenges associated with the utilization of social media
 To identify the shortcomings that accompany the use of IT among the
young generation

RESEARCH QUESTION
 How do the use in Kenya use social media in their daily lives?
 What are the risks that come with the use of social media among the young
generation?
 What challenges are affecting the youth on usage IT gadgets?

SIGNIFICANCE
The aim of the study is to offer opportunities for personal growth, career
development, and social impact, making it a significant
force in the lives of today’s youth
