1 Abstract
This document will show the effect of implementing Downlink DTX on the values of TCH Call drop rate and SDCCH Drop
Rate. Downlink DTX was activated on the whole Huawei network last August 27, 2007.

2 TCH Call drop rate before and after implementing Downlink DTX

The graph above reflects the average values of TCH drop rate over Huawei network before and after activating the
downlink DTX. Average value of TCH drop rate before implementation was at 1.22%, it decreased to 1.08% after downlink
DTX was activated.

The graph above reflects the average values of TCH call drop on Huawei BSCs before and after activating downlink DTX.
BSCs with the most noticeable improvement on average TCH drop rate are BARIKA (1.23% down to 1.08%), BATNA
(0.82% to 0.60%), GUELMA (1.45% to 1.30%), TAMANRASSET (1.63% to 1.12%), SOUK AHRAS (1.46% down to
1.30%) and TEBESSA (1.68% to 1.00%).

3 SDCCH Drop rate before and after implementing downlink DTX

The above below reflects the average SDCCH drop rate before and after activating DTX. Average value of SDCCH drop
rate before implementation was at 0.72%, it decreased to 0.60% after downlink DTX was activated.

The graph above reflects the average values of SDCCH call drop on Huawei BSCs before and after activating downlink
DTX. BSCs with the most noticeable improvement on average SDDCH drop rate are TAMANRASSET (0.80% down to
0.60%) and TEBESSA (1.02% down to 0.35%), the rest of Huawei BSCs had a less than 0.10% improvement.

4 Conclusion:
Implementing downlink DTX on Huawei network has brought a significant improvement on the TCH call drop rate and
SDCCH drop rate. Average TCH drop rate decreased to 1.08% from the previous value of 1.22%, while SDCCH drop rate
went down to 0.60% from previous value of 0.72%.
