2. Flammability per SAE J369/FMVSS 302
3. Low Temperature Flexibility per BH 100-016A
4. Fluid Resistance per BH100-003B

TEST CONDITIONS:

- Temperature : from 22°C to 24°C

- Relative humidity : from 45% to 55%

DESCRIPTION OF TEST SPECIMENS:

FlexGuard®2120 2001001903S Lot NO.220907025

TEST PROCEDURE AND RESULTS:

Test #1: Heat Aging, 240 hours @175°C

Procedure: The following was performed on three samples of the product:
 A sample was cut to length of 200mm.
 The sample was put into the convection oven and keep the temperature at 175°C for 240h.
 After 240 hours, the sample was removed from the oven and allowed to cool to room temperature.
 The sample was wrapped around a mandrel with a diameter equal to four times (4X) the nominal ID
of the test sample at a uniform rate of one turn per 10 seconds.
 The sample was visually examined for any change in appearance or other signs of degradation.

Requirement: No sign of any degradation or cracks when wrapped around 4X mandrel.

Results: All samples passed with no sign of degradation or cracks when wrapped around 4X mandrel.

Test #2: Flammability per SAE J369/FMVSS 302

Procedure: The following was conducted on three samples of the product:
 A sample was cut to a length of 360mm.
 The sample was placed on a horizontal U-shaped fixture that has markings every 25mm.
 A U-shaped metal frame was then placed on top of the U-shaped fixture in order to keep the sample
flat during testing.
 The end of the sample that was in the bottom of the “U” of the U-shaped fixture was clamped closed.
 Using a Bunsen burner, a flame was applied for 15seconds to the unclamped end of the sample.
 When the flame reached a point 38mm along the sample, a timer was started.
 The time for the flame to progress an additional 250mm was measured.
 If the flame did not travel to the far end of the sample, the time to reach the point where the flame
extinguished was measured.
 The burn rate was calculated in mm/min.

Per SAE J369

DNI (Does not ignite) Sample did not support combustion

SE/0 (Self - extinguishing) Sample ignited but extinguished before reaching 1st gauge mark
SE/NBR (Self-extinguish / Sample ignited but extinguished before burning for 60s after and 51mm
no burn rate) from the start timing
SE/B (Self-extinguish with Sample burned past the 1st gauge mark but extinguished before the
a burn rate in mm/min) flame reach the 2nd gauge mark
B (burn rate in mm/min) Sample burned the entire 254mm between 1 st and 2nd gauge mark
RB (rapid burning) Sample transmitted a flame at a rate too fast to measure
Per FMVSS 302
 The test specimen does not burn; or
 The propagation of the flame is not more than 102mm per minute; or
 The flame extinguishes within 60s after removal of the ignition flame and the flame does not travel
more than about 50mm.

Requirement: Self-extinguished or Burn rate < 100 mm/min

Results: All samples self-extinguished before reaching the first mark.

Test #3: Low Temperature Flexibility per BH 100-016A

Procedure: The following was performed on three samples of each product:
 A sample was cut to 200mm in length.
 The sample was placed in an environmental chamber set at -70°C.
 After 4 hours, the sample was removed from the chamber. A taped wire bundle with an outer
diameter equal to 80% of nominal ID of the sample was inserted into the sample.
 The sample/wire assembly was then wrapped around a mandrel with a diameter equal to four times
(4X) the nominal ID of the test sample at a uniform rate of one turn per 10 seconds.
 The sample was visually inspected for any sign of degradation.

Requirement: No sign of any degradation or cracks when wrapped around 4X mandrel.

Results: All samples passed with no sign of degradation or cracks.

Test #4: Fluid Resistance per BH 100-003B

Procedure: The following was performed on 3 samples of the product per each fluid:

 A sample was cut to 51 mm in length.

 The sample was immersed in one of the following automotive fluids for 30 minutes:
- 5% NaCl solution
- 50% antifreeze solution
- Windshield washer fluid
- Automatic transmission fluid
- Power steering fluid
- Heavy duty brake fluid
- SAE 5W30 engine oil
- ASTM Reference Fuel C
- Diesel fuel
 Remove the samples from the fluids after 30 minutes and wipe gently with a paper towel to remove
excess fluid.
 Record all visual observations such as delamination or deformation of the sample.

Requirement: No visible change in appearance, sign of degradation, or loss of flexibility.

Results: All samples passed, with no visible change in appearance or any sign of degradation.

CONCLUSION:

Our results were reported above.
