ACTIVITY 1: STEPS TO FINDING A JOB

Finding a job may seem like a long process with many different stages. Remember, it’s
a good idea to understand the steps involved from start to finish so you know what to
expect.
Look at the steps below and use them as a guide as you search for a job.

1. IDENTIFYING WHICH CAREER PATH TO TAKE

 Meet with an advisor.

 Identify your experience and skills.
 Explore different industries.
 Explore and identify companies & industry jobs.
 Create a resume.

2. APPLYING FOR A JOB

 Identify suitable jobs.

 Explore and identify potential training if there are skills gaps.
 Research companies for specific jobs.
 Tailor your resume.
 Apply for a job.

3. GETTING A JOB OFFER

 Prepare for an interview.

 Interview.
 Receive a job offer.

Below is a template for you to complete. This template will help you understand where
you are in the journey to getting a job. It will also help you determine which Skills to
Succeed Academy modules to focus on. Once you complete the template, use it as
points for discussion with your advisor or anyone else who is helping you with your job
