If SAINT is coded as 74128 and EXCEL is coded as 36539, then how would
you encode ACCESS?

 A. 455377

 B. 455977

 C. 366977

 D. 755344

Given, SAINT is coded as 74128

EXCEL is coded as 36539

From the above trend it is evident that

A is coded as 4, C as 5, E as 3 and S as 7 here.Hence the code of

ACCESS is 455377

2.
In a certain language, if MATHEMATICS is coded as 12345123678, then
MAHATMA is coded as

 A. 1234523

 B. 1243213

 C. 1234578

 D. 1242312

M A T H E M A T I C S
1 2 3 4 5 1 2 3 6 7 8
So M is coded as 1, A is coded as 2, H is coded as 4, and T is coded as 3.

∴ MAHATMA is coded as 1242312

A spaceship travels 15 kilometres towards the South. From there, it travels
9 kilometres towards the North. Then it travels 8 kilometres towards the
West. How far and in which direction is the spaceship with reference to its
starting point?

We will try to solve the question in 2 steps

First Step is to draw the diagram and identify the direction.

From the reference

Mathematical Reasoning
In this case we can easily identify the direction as “SOUTH WEST”

Focusing on △ACD, we see that it forms a right angled triangle.

In the △ACD,

By use of Pythagoras’s Theorem,

2 2 2
AD = AC + CD
2
AD = √6 + 8
2
= 10 km

Hence the current position is placed at 10 km in the South West

Mohan travels 3 km in the East, then he turns to the South and moves 4 km.
How far is he from now the starting point?

 A. 6 km

 B. 7 km

 C. 4 km

 D. 5 km

According to the diagram,

AC= √3 2 2
+ 4 =5 km

Mohan is 5 km away from the starting point.

If A means ‘plus’, B means ‘minus’, C means ‘divided by’ and D means
‘multiplied by’ then

6 C 3 A 4 B 3 D 2 equals

 A. 2

 B. 1

 C. 6

 D. 0

6C3A4B3D2

Using proper signs, we get

6÷3+4-3×2

=2+4-6

=0

In the question, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a statement of
the reason (R). Mark the correct choice:

Assertion:
14 N 10 L 42 P 2 M 8 = 153

Reason:
L stands for +

M stands for –

N stands for ×

P stands for ÷

Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true, and reason (R) is the
 A.
correct explanation of assertion (A).

Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true, but reason (R) is not
 B.
the correct explanation of assertion (A).

 C. Assertion (A) is true, but reason (R) is false.

 D. Assertion (A) is false, but reason (R) is true.

Mathematical Reasoning

Given:

Assertion:

14 N 10 L 42 P 2 M 8 = 153

Reason:

L stands for +

M stands for –

N stands for ×

P stands for ÷

Replace the alphabets with the appropriate symbols/ operators.

We get

14 N 10 L 42 P 2 M 8

=14 ×10 +42 ÷2-8

By BODMAS rule

=14×10 +21-8 (First operator is division)

=140+21-8(Second operator is multiplication)

=161-8( Third operator is addition)

=153

Hence Assertion and Reason both are correct and the reason is the
correct explanation of assertion.

In a row of boys, Ramesh if sixth from the left and Rahim is eleventh from
the right. If they interchange their positions, Ramesh becomes tenth from the
left. How many boys are there in the row?

 A. 20

 B. 22

 C. 21

 D. 23

Total number of students before Rahim =6+x

Given, Ramesh's new position is 10th from the left.

There are 9 students before Ramesh after interchange.

Before Ramesh was in the 6th position. Hence ,

6+x=9

∴x=3

⇒Total number of students are

5 +3+10=2=20 ( Here 2 is added because we have to count Ramesh and

Rahim)

In a class, Rajiv ranks 15th from the top and 12th from the bottom. If in the
same class Anita ranks 10th from the top, then how many children are
below her in the class?

 A. 15

 B. 20

 C. 16

 D. 14

Given

Rajiv ranks 15th from top and 12th from bottom

∴Total students are 14+1+11=26 ( 1 is added for Rajiv)

Given,

Anita’s rank from the top =10th

∴The number of students who are below Anita in the class= 26-10 =16
