PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and the situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Name and describe your organization.

The company I will be working for is in New York, at the University Medical Center. I
decided to focus on medical healthcare institutions because these organizations need to
ensure high-quality patient care and not put lives at risk. The organization is facing
various challenges, such as: Staff shortage, patient dissatisfaction, employee burnout, etc.
“Morale tends to be higher in organizations with formal structures “(Bolman &
Deal,2017). The organization is intended to work with a bottom-up system since the large
number of members.

2) Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

As a member of the company, I am responsible for improving communication channels

and collaborating with the Human Resources department and other managers to develop a
comprehensive plan to overcome staff shortage challenges. Additionally, I aim to identify
potential employee benefits to motivate project teams while fostering a positive work
environment. As part of the Human Resources department, I am committed to delivering
projects on time while ensuring the delivery of quality care for patients.

3) Describe the situation, including information you think will help the reader
understand the most important elements of the situation. (This will require
selectivity: part of the art of case writing is separating the essential facts from the
mass of information that might be included).

If we do not maintain a balance and improve these areas, we can potentially have issues
in the future. The shortage of staff can lead to increased workload and stress among the
existing staff, these can affect the service quality for the patients and put their lives at
risk. It is essential to identify potential employee benefits, improve communication
channels, and foster a positive work environment. The healthcare sector (hospitals) needs
to implement policies and changes that prioritize the safety, well-being, and satisfaction
of their patients and employees.
