A. Product Classifications
1. According to use
a. Consumer product-Coca cola Originally marketed as a temperance drink and intended as a
patent medicine, it was invented in the late 19th century by John Stith Pemberton in Atlanta,
Georgia. In 1888, Pemberton sold Coca-Cola's ownership rights to Asa Griggs Candler, a
businessman, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the global soft-drink
market throughout the 20th and 21st century.

b. Industrial product-San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is one of the Philippines’ largest and most
diversified conglomerates, with revenues equivalent to about 4.9% of the country’s GDP in 2021.
Originally founded in 1890 as a single product brewery in the Philippines, SMC today has highly
integrated operations with ownership in market leading businesses and investments in various
sectors, such as beverages, food, packaging, energy, fuel and oil, infrastructure, property
development and leasing, cement, car distributorship and banking services.

2. According to type
a. Convenience product-Alaska Milk Corporation is a manufacturer of milk products in the
Philippines. It is a subsidiary of Dutch dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina, which acquired
control of the company from the founding Uytengsu family in 2012.

b. Shopping product-Penshoppe Known for its fresh and innovative take on casual wear,
PENSHOPPE offers high quality apparel, innerwear, accessories, and fragrances from a unique
design perspective for a variety of personalities. An inclusive brand that has an age encompassing
relevance and appeal.

c. Specialty product-August Horch founded his first automobile company, August Horch & Cie, in
Cologne in 1899. Shortly after that, in 1909, he set up a new automobile company in Zwickau,
which has been operating under the name Audiwerke AG, Zwickau since 1910.

d. Unsought product-Sun Life Financial, Inc. (SLF) is a publicly traded company domiciled in
Canada and is the holding company of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada. SLF was
incorporated in Canada on August 5, 1999. SLF is traded on the Toronto (TSX), New York (NYSE),
and the Philippine (PSE) stock exchanges.

3. According to differentiation
a. Undifferentiated products-Pilmico Foods Corporation provides packaged food products. The
Company offers flour, poultry and aqua feeds, and meat products. Pilmico Foods serves
customers in Philippines

b. Differentiation products-The iPhone is a smartphone made by Apple that combines a


computer, iPod, digital camera and cellular phone into one device with a touchscreen interface.
The iPhone runs the iOS operating system, and in 2021 when the iPhone 13 was introduced, it
offered up to 1 TB of storage and a 12-megapixel camera.

4. According to durability

-Apple the number 1 valued Consumer durable brand in the world. The Macbook line of laptops
as well as the Iphone is the major driver in its standing as a top consumer durable brand of the
world. Macbook has overcome the number of windows laptops in the US, and slowly but surely
the usage of Macbooks and tablets is rising.
