Lesson Title Virtual Day: Distributive Property
Content Area College Readiness

Content Standards CRM.MM.1.1: Students should be provided with opportunities to learn

mathematics in the context of real-life problems

Technology Standards 1.1.c: Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves
their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.

Integrated Technology Must have access to a device where they can play my video
Must have access to a camera where they can record their project
Reference or N/A- this video will be posted on their Canvas
Supporting Resources

Bloom’s Taxonomy They must understand the concept before they can create a product of their
Levels own. They must also remember key points in whatever standard they choose
so that they are confident enough to teach. They must use their knowledge
and create a product that will be shared with the class.
Integration Level Loti 4: integration
Students are required to take what they have learned in the unit and integrate
it in their own product and act like they are teaching a virtual class about one
of the lessons in the unit

Importance of Multimedia allows students to create a product and visually present it to their
Technology classmates. They have almost free reign to use any video tool that they can
find as long as they get permission from me. This project creates an
engaging way to learn the material from their classmates perspectives.
Multimedia helps to accomplish this by showing the distributive property
visually and individually.
Internet Safety and The main safety concern is protecting student’s identities. For whatever
Student Privacy video tool that they choose to use, they must make an account where it is
password protected. They must only save their project to their own device
and not share it anywhere on the web. If they are making an account, they
can only use their first name. I will also follow any Internet Safety protocols
that the school district has placed.
Universal Design This project that I have implemented into my lesson is a great way for
Rationale students to take what they learned and individualize it into their own
perspective. The video that I have created is an example on what the
students will be creating. To ensure that everyone has the same resources I
will provide class time so that students can use the class mobile lab if they
don’t have access to a camera or computer at home. I want to create an
engaging way to assess the knowledge of the distributive property, but also
give them the freedom to be creative and show different perspectives of the
content.
Lesson Idea The project that I have briefly discussed above was created for students to
take what they have learned about the distributive property and individualize it
into their own format and perspective. Students will watch my example
product and assemble a video that resembles mine. I’ve instructed the
students to think back to COVID year when everything was virtual and create
a “virtual learning lecture” on some of the key points from the distributive
property. I have instructed them to be created yet accurate. They are able to
create a powerpoint, google slide, prezi, etc but must include a video of
themself like they are lecturing.

This project will be introduced at the end of the unit in place of their quiz. I
will be able to assess who understands the material and who needs to revisit
this work. Since students will be using different key terms and individualizing
this content, their peers will see different viewpoints and will learn more about
the concept. I think this is a very engaging way to get every student involved
and excited to complete. They will have a week to complete this and on
Friday they will all share their videos. I will grade these while we watch them
and give feedback to each project.

Design Reflection The activities that I have created impact student learning by giving them the
freedom and creativity to create a product that reflects what they have
learned. Students are able to use whatever slideshow and video tool that
they have access to as long as it is password protected and it follows county
Internet Safety guidelines. I’m hoping that this project is something fun that
creates engagement throughout the classroom and allows me to truly assess
who knows the material.
