Topic: Paper Plate weaving
Length of Class: 60min
Curricular Outcomes:
Materials: Paint, brushes, Paper Plates, Yarn
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1) Use unique mediums yarn and plates, to practice weaving
2) Use these new techniques to create a fall themed tree scene using the colors they
see on trees in real life

Activities Time Allowed


PREREQUISITE SKILLS/CONCEPTS • 45min

Before Lesson:

-Have Fall Colored paints collected and ready to dish up.


-Paper plates
-Brushes
-Yarn
-A little bit of tape

Explain the project, with a picture on the board.

Hand out materials to students.

Start Activity:
-Start by notching the paper plates.
-Paint our plates in fall fashion
-After the paint dries a little bit, grab our yarn.
-Start by taping the bottom of the yarn then start weaving
up, demonstrating to the students.
-Grab different colored yarn then start weaving it.
(demonstrate again)
Inform students that the have 10 minutes left to wrap up their 10min
projects
-tell students who have a majority of their project completed to
start wrapping it up.

Tell students to begin tidying up their stations and supplies 5min


-assist with clean up by collecting all classroom materials
(scissors, plates, glue, etc)
-have students wipe down their desks when done tidying supplies
