OBJECTIVE:
LESSON PLAN
By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to;
 explain the concept of carving
 list the tools and materials used in carving
 carve a log of wood to produce a composition of fruits

INTRODUCTION (10 minutes)


I will start by asking the students the following questions to introduce the lesson: In what way can
one produce an image out of a log of wood?
Expected Answer:
• By chiseling
• Using chainsaw
• By cutting them using cutlass
I will explain that in order for them to produce the image from the wood, they need to carve it into
the desired form. Then I will introduce the topic of the day – Carving .
PRESENTATION (20 minutes)
Step 1: Explanation to the carving
Using discussion method, I will guides the students to explain what carving is and the technics
involved. I will give an illustration in the form of demonstration to give them an idea of how carving
is done.
Question: What is carving?
Expected Answer:
• it is the process of producing a work out of a hard material using a tool.

Core Point:
Carving is the act of using tools to shape something from a material by scraping away portions
of that material.

Demonstration:
I will use a chisel to carve a sketch that has been made on a flat wood.
Conclusion:
I will call the students to summaries the lesson, l will add any point that the students may leave out. I
will also invites question from the students.
Evaluation:
I will evaluates the students understanding of the lesson by giving them an assignment to carve a log
of wood to produce a composition of fruits
