UNIT 6

Part 1
1. How will you use English in the future?... as it’s one of
the most common languages in the world.
- When I graduate from university, I am going to work as
a businessman/woman… in a foreign company. I will use
English to communicate with foreigners and, write emails
and read all materials in English. Another thing is that I
will visit some countries such as America, Australia and
England, so English help me a lot in my journeys.
2. What do you find easy/difficult about learning
English? =u1
- I find it easy/ difficult to learn EL. (First of all) EL
grammar is very different from Vietnamese grammar/ the
grammar structures in EL are greatly different from those
in Vietnamese. For example, in EL we have to give the
correct forms of the verbs in different contexts while in
Vietnamese, we don’t have to care about them.
- Another thing in that EL pronunciation is really
challenging. It doesn’t have a fixed rule to follow.
- Word order … a nice girl
- Word formation … fame -> famous
3. Have you ever taken part in a charity event? What
kind of an event was it?
- Yes, I have participated in a charity event at my
university lately/recently. My friends and I collected
second hand clothes and books and sent them to poor
children in remote areas. We had a chance to visit them
last winter. I felt really happy because I could do
something to help them.

- Yes, of course. I have participated in a charity event in

my high school. In 2020, you know, the central region of
our country had to suffer from widespread flooding and
landslides, which were caused by a combination of heavy
rainfall and tropical storms. Many homes and
infrastructure including roads and bridges were
destroyed. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate
to higher ground. At that time, my high school did a
fundraiser in order to assist those in need and I donated
200.000 dong. I also collected second hand clothes and
books for them. Furthermore, I persuaded my family,
friends and relatives to do the same. I felt really glad
because I could do something to help them. I believe that
the more people we save, the happier we are. So I hope I
can donate more to improve the lives of others and make
our world better in the future.
4. What are you going to do on your next vacation? – HA
LONG BAY
- I am going to visit a natural reserve because I enjoy
being close to nature and watching plants and animals
there. I want to understand more about wildlife there
and learn some ways to take care of them. I hope to take
a lot of beautiful photos to share with my friends.
Part 2
1. A: Why they are doing these activities?
- I can see people in both pictures are doing different
activities to protect our environment.
- In the first picture on the left, the people are clearing
the beach and there are a lot of rubbish there. They seem
really energetic and excited to do. The reason why they
do this activity is that they may want to reduce water and
land pollution, which can harm marine life, birds and
other wildlife. It’s also a good way to develop our tourism
as a clean beach is more appealing to visitors.
- In the second picture, young people are planting trees
in sunny weather. They look very cheerful with beautiful
smiles on their faces. They are interested in doing that
because they hope to make environment greener,
cleaner and more beautiful. Planting trees can improve
air quality, reduce soil erosion, provide shade and
habitats for various wildlife species.
B: Which of these activities would you prefer to do?
Why?
- I prefer to collect rubbish on the beach to protect the
environment, prevent harm to wildlife. I can connect with
nature, enjoy the outdoors and become more
responsible. Another thing is that it’s a good way to
develop our tourism as a clean beach is more appealing
to visitors.
2. B: Why you think people are doing these activities?
- Both pictures show people doing valuable things to help
their community and other people but they are
drastically different.
- In the first picture, I can see many people taking part in
blood donation activity. All of them are wearing red T-
shirt which symbolizes blood and love. They are very
happy to do this activity because they can save lives and
improve the health of those in need. It can give them a
sense of satisfaction and pride in knowing they are doing
something positive for communities.
- In the second picture, a group of young people in their
uniform. Perhaps they are dancing or doing exercise. I
think they come from a Youth Club or Volunteer Club.
They choose the activity because they may want to
perform something for free for people in their
community and develop the image of their club. Or they
may want to convey a message and encourage others to
do that.
A: Which of these activities do you prefer? Why?
- I prefer to take part in blood donation activity because I
want to help others in need, improve the health and well-
being of the community. The more people we save, the
happier we are. Many people are facing dangerous
diseases, so they need our help.
Part 3: Why these ideas would have collecting money
for a local charity.
- Organize a fashion show
- Organize a music show
- Sell hand made cards
- Ask parents for money
- Sell some drinks
A: Shall I start first?
B: Yes please go ahead
A: I think organizing a fashion show is a good idea
because young people are very interested in fashion
these days and we can attract a great number of them.
B: Yes, that’s right. We can contact schools, university or
companies to sell our ticket both online and offline. We
can also hold a silent auction or raffle with donated items
from local businesses.
A: Yes, I think so. Do you think we should organize a
music show?
B: Yes, we should have that event at the weekend but we
have to pay for the singers and music bands.
A: That’s true. But people enjoy live music, you can draw
the attention of music fans and some singers may sing for
free and donate more money.
B: Perhaps. I think selling hand made cards is also a good
choice because they are unique, personal and can be
customized for a variety of occasions which will appeal to
many people.
A: Sure, visitors and tourists may want to buy them as
their souvenirs. They can understand more about our
culture and history. And these gifts are quite reasonable.
B: That’s true. What do you think about asking our
parents for money?
A: Yes, that’s ok. Parents are often willing to support us
do something positive for community and many will be
happy to contribute to a good cause.
B: Exactly. They have stable income and larger network so
I think they can make donations and ask their friends for
more help.
A: Yes, and how about selling some drinks?
B: It’s also a good way to raise money because our place
are surrounded by many universities and public areas so
we can draw a crowd.
A: Sure, our team members can do this activity at the
weekend or late in the afternoon. It’s really easy to do
that.

B: Ok, so which two things do you think would be the

most useful?
A: In my opinion, selling drinks and cards are the best
choice because they are relatively low-cost, simple and
effective ways to get started. We don’t have to pay for
other services and we can do it everyday after class.
B: Exactly, also, we can sold them at many places and
events. We should offer a variety of drinks and cards to
satisfy different tastes and preferences.
A: So we are agreed, then.
Part 4
1. Why do you think charities are important?
A: Shall I start first?
B: Yes, go ahead
A: I think doing charity is very important because it’s a
good way for people to show their love and responsible
to other people in society. They can join hands to help
people in difficult situations and develop a sense of
empathy and compassion for those in need.

images, reputations and organizations.
A: Sure, people who receive support will feel more
confident and optimistic about their lives

communication, teamwork, time management
/leadership and problem solving. These skills can help
them in school, work and personal life.

hunger, and disease which can help to make our world

many schools and employers look for candidates that are
actively engaged in their communities.
- Volunteering can be a fun and enjoyable activity they
can do with friends and meet new people.
2. Have you ever donated any money for a charity?
Which one?
A: Yes, I have. Last summer, my friends and I sold hand-
made products to raise money for homeless children in
my area. I felt really happy because I could do something
to help them.
B: That’s great. I asked my parents for 200.000 dong and I
donated that amount of money for people in the North
Central. I hope I can do more to help them in the future
when I have a job.

- In 2020, you know, the central region of our country has

to suffer from widespread flooding and landslides, which
were caused by a combination of heavy rainfall and
tropical storms. Many homes and infrastructure including

them. I believe that the more people we save, the
happier we are. So I hope I can donate more to improve
the lives of others and make our world better in the
future. So what about you? Have you ever donated any
money for a charity?
3. Do you think young people should do voluntary work
for a charity?

situations and improve their team work skills or soft
skills.
B: You are right. They can get more experience and
motivation to support their work or study.

- I think young people should definitely do voluntary work

for a charity because they can join hands to help people
in difficult situations and develop a sense of empathy and
compassion for those in need.
- Volunteering teaches them important life skills like
communication, teamwork, time management

4. Why do you think wealthy people should donate
more money to charity?
A: I think rich people should donate more money to
charity to make our world better because doing charity
can make people more responsible and closer to each
other.
B: Sure, doing charity can help them develop their image
and organization they are working for.

- By donating money they can make a difference in the

lives of those in need. With their financial resources, they
can support to organizations that are working to address
issues such as poverty, hunger, and disease which can
help to make our world better.
- Charitable donations can also provide significant tax
benefits for wealthy individuals. They can reduce the
amount of taxes owed.

reputation of wealthy individuals and their businesses.

significant sums have the potential to set an example for
others and inspire further charitable giving.
