A. Explain the importance of a healthy diet for good digestion.

B. Describe the process of digestion in a logical sequence.

C. Identify the major organs of the digestive system and describe their

functions.

B. Motivation – “4 PICS 1 WORD”

 The teacher will flash images related with the lesson.

 The students will take part in the aforementioned game. The

students will gain perspective on the lesson from this game.

C. Activity
 The teacher will show different images of the organs belong

to the digestive system.

 The students will provide the names of the organs base on

what they can recall in their past learning about organs.

D. Analysis

 Why do you think the organs play a vital role in digestive

system?

 Do you consider that other organs whether the shape or size

has its own vital role?

The digestive system is a network of organs that work together to break

down food into nutrients that the body can use for energy, growth, and

repair. The digestive system is made up of two main parts: the

gastrointestinal (GI) tract and the accessory organs.

The GI tract is a long tube that

runs from the mouth to the anus. It

includes the following organs:


 Mouth: The mouth is where digestion begins. Food is chewed in the mouth

and mixed with saliva, which contains enzymes that start to break down

carbohydrates.

 Esophagus: The esophagus is a muscular tube that carries food from the

mouth to the stomach.

 Stomach: The stomach is a muscular sac that stores food and breaks it

down further with gastric juices. Gastric juices contain acids and enzymes

that break down proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

 Small intestine: The small intestine is a long, coiled tube where most of

the digestion and absorption of nutrients takes place. The small intestine

is lined with millions of tiny villi, which are finger-like projections that

increase the surface area for absorption.


 Large intestine: The large intestine is a long, muscular tube that absorbs

water from the food and stores waste products. The waste products are

eventually eliminated from the body as feces.

The accessory organs of digestion include the pancreas, liver, and

gallbladder. These organs produce and store enzymes and other

substances that help to digest food.

digestive enzymes are released into the small intestine to help break down

carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. The hormones insulin and glucagon are

released into the bloodstream to help regulate blood sugar levels.

 Liver: The liver is the largest organ in the body and it performs many

important functions, including digestion. The liver produces bile, which is a


substance that helps to break down fats. The liver also stores and

releases glucose, which is the body's main source of energy.

 Gallbladder: The gallbladder is a small organ that stores bile. When food

enters the small intestine, the gallbladder releases bile into the small

intestine to help break down fats.

The digestive system is a complex system that plays a vital role in our

overall health and well-being. By understanding how the digestive system

works, we can make choices that support good digestion and overall

health.

F. Generalization

 What is the importance of intestines?

 Can we use the modern technology to prolonged the health

of our digestive organs?

 What will you if you feel discomfort while eating or taking

edible goods into your digestive system?

G. Application

The teacher will divide the class into groups of three. Each group will

produce an essay with a word count of no more than fifty. They will share
their work in class once ten (10) minutes have passed. The significance of

the water cycle in the ecosystem will be the subject.

Topic: Healthy lifestyle for a good life

H. Evaluation

The teacher has prepared a ten (10) item quiz. The questions will

be written on the board, and the students will have five (5) minutes to

respond. The test is formatted for identification.

I. Assignment

The teacher will assign the students to illustrate the logical sequence of

digestive organs and their function in a clear short bond paper and to be pass by

next week.
