Statement: Good morning honorable chair and fellow delegates, It’s an honor for the
delegation of India to be part of this committee. Today we are here to discuss about the
developments of technology for the control of space debris problems. The delegation of
India is open to hear every idea and solution from the other delegations to reach to a
final solution as soon as possible.

India is the earliest known civilization 2500-1700 BC, India was an good country and
had good economy and culture before British empire colonize. After that India declared
independent in 1947. Since that, India has made a los of advances in the
industrialization, India makes a lot of products for the daily consume and basic needs,
thenpopulation is on of the biggest in the world. Nowadays India is one of the countries
with the best industry, a good economy, good militar resources and the use of nuclear
energy is peaceful.

Since 1957 when rockets, space ships and satellites started being launched to the
space pieces of these objects have been in the space and the rests of them stay in
there, these pieces are calles spaces debris. Space debris have been increasing the
amount of problems in a long term period. We know that “there’s around 34,000 pieces
of space debris bigger than 10 centimeter in size and millions of smaller pieces”1. “The
European Space Agency (ESA) estimates that there are some 900,000 objects over one
centimetre in size that have no use orbiting the Earth. This fact, according to the UN,
endangers future missions and even terrestrial communications.”2 These debris pollute
the atmosphere because of the properties and the pollutants that are being dispersed in
the space. The nuclear technologies are also in satellites launched to the space and
could cause contamination and damages if the come back to the planet. Some debris
cam come back to the planet causing damages in the earth and this has been
happening a lot and will increase if there not a solution.

“India has 103 active or defunct spacecraft and 114 objects categorised as 'space
debris' in orbit and it has embarked on a research to reduce such fragments from outer
space.”3 India has been taking investigations and research for activities to study the
feasibility and technologies required to undertake active debris removal the responsable
is the Indian Space Research Organisation. In 2019 India made a project of an anti
satellite missile test, India destroyed an Indian defunct satellite orbiting 300 kilometers.

The possible solution that India has are first changing the orbits of the satellites
because in the traditional ones they perigees with the earth atmosphere that causes
them to break up. The reuse of the rockets and satellites can be an option to reduce the
creation of new ones and more space debris. Reusing the space debris also can be a
solution. Use a laser to make the debris come back to the earth in a safe place.
