CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

Teaching method is treated as an independent variable. They believe that by adopting

the most effective teaching methods for each student in their particular learning style,
their academic performance will improve. This will enhance our students' grades and it
will be beneficial to us. If we fully comprehend the teacher's method of instruction, it will
be simpler for us to grasp the information when we are aware of how to learn best.

Academic performance as the dependent variable. The past research conducted said
that the students' academic performance varies on the different types of teaching
methods. Discussion, demonstration, lecture, problem solving, etc. are some.of the
examples. Learning methods should be used according to the teacher, and the learners
objectives.

study.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

This study aims to investigate the relationship between teaching methods and academic
performance among Grade 11 STEM students at Sacred Heart Academy of Sta. Maria
(Bulacan), Inc. The research is grounded in David Kolb’s experiential learning theory,
which highlights the significance of hands-on experience in the learning process. This
teaching approach is considered one of the best practices for science education,
particularly in inclusive classrooms. The experiential learning theory encourages active
engagement with the subject matter, fostering a deeper understanding and the
development of practical skills.

According to the study by Parane, F.E. (2023), there is no significant relationship

between the extent to which teachers used different methods in teaching exceptional
learners and their academic performance. However, this theory can help researchers
improve learning outcomes for students, assist teachers in creating instruction tailored
to each student, and foster flexible and creative employees in the workplace.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Academic Performance. Measurable outcomes of a student's educational journey,

typically assessed through grades, test scores, and other indicators of achievement. It
reflects a student's ability to grasp and apply knowledge in an educational setting.

Teaching Method. Specific approach or strategy used by educators to facilitate the

learning process. It includes various techniques, tools, and instructional strategies
designed to convey information, engage students, and help them acquire knowledge
and skills.

GWA (Grade Weighted Average). Numerical representation of a student's overall

academic performance, often calculated by assigning weighted values to different
course grades. It is commonly used in educational institutions to assess a student's
cumulative performance.

Respondents: In the context of research, respondents are individuals or participants

who provide responses or information in response to surveys, questionnaires,
interviews, or other data collection methods. They are essential for gathering data and
insights in research studies.

Students. It is the individuals who engage in a formal educational process, typically

attending schools, colleges, or universities. They participate in learning activities,
pursue academic goals, and work towards acquiring knowledge and skills in various
subjects or fields of study.
Relationship. In this research, relationship refers to the connection, association, or
interaction between two or more variables.
