Conventional teaching methods are no longer applicable in the pandemic era

Conventional is defined as the learning done by being physically present in classes. The
COVID-19 pandemic has changed education to non-conventional teaching method for instance
e-learning whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms such as Google
classroom, zoom and Google drive. I strongly agree that conventional teaching method are no
longer applicable in the pandemic era. This is because it has less accessibility than non-
conventional methods and not convenience. However, it is undeniable that conventional
teaching method is still relevant because it will help in students' self development and create
an emotional bonding between students and educators.

On other hand, conventional teaching method can be said still relevant because it is very
helpful in increasing the level of students development. Especially it can be seen in terms of
students' communication skills, which if using conventional methods, they will be physically in
the same classroom. Every activity carried out in the class will create a collaborative
atmosphere for all students and of course requires two-way interaction between students and
students, and educators and students. At the same time, the conventional learning
environment will foster students' confidence levels through question and answer sessions in
class. compared to online learning, students will be passive and hide behind the screen of their
laptop or gadget and lack the confidence to ask questions and give opinions. in the end, they
choose to remain in a comfortable position and are afraid to come forward. Obviously, in terms
of this issue, conventional teaching method is still relevant in developing students' self
progress.

Besides, the importance of conventional learning is to create emotional bonding

between each individual involved in the learning session. Emotional bond is not something that
is easy to produce which can be translated through feelings of love, value of concern and pity
between students and teachers. It can be said to be almost impossible to achieve in the case of
a learning session physically limited such as online learning. Doing face to face eye contact,
body language observation, and physical touch which can only be obtained in conventional
learning methods are among the elements that can create the emotional bond. This bond is
indeed very important especially for students to increase their interest, memory and most
importantly their motivation in a certain field of study. Not only that, through it also, the
relationship between people is not only limited in gaining knowledge, but it will create the
value of love among people even after successfully completing the learning period. Thus, this
shows that conventional methods are very important to generate emotional bonds in all parties
involved in the learning session.

In conclusion, conventional teaching methods are no longer applicable in the pandemic

era because it has less accessibility than non-conventional methods and not convinient.
However, conventional teaching methods have the upside in increasing students development
and create emotional bonding between people. What is more import, people need to choose
which teaching method is the best and suite for themselves. Having presented our arguments,
we once again totally agree on the statement that 'conventional teaching method are no longer
applicable in the pandemic era'.
