101 SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHING
IN PHILIPPINE EDUCATION

MODULE 3
I. INTRODUCTION
The course aims to equip the students in the BEED program a
springboard in the pedagogy Philippine culture and geography in the
elementary grade level based on the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum, it
is a must to allow future teachers to have the basic overview of the
entire Social Studies curriculum (with the aid of Department of
Education Araling Panlipunan Curriculum Guide: from Grade 1 to
Grade 10).

MODULE 3
I. INTRODUCTION
This part of the module will enhance future teachers’ capability to construct
a lesson plan relying to certain topics aligned with Grade 2, 3, or 4 Araling
Panlipunan. In fact, the author believes that mastering the art of crafting a
lesson plan is very essential for future teachers. Everyone knew that lesson
planning is one of the teaching competencies that teachers should improve
and cater as per the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST),
formerly National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS).

I. INTRODUCTION
Module 3 serves as an avenue for further inquiry of the
available resources in the community for the localization and
contextualization of teaching Social Studies in elementary
subjects.

At the end of the topic, the students
are expected to:
1. identify the scope ofSocial Studies
Teaching in different grade levels in
Philippine K-12 Curriculum; and
2. create a lesson plan that is aligned
to the DepEd Curriculum Guide for
Social Studies Teaching (Grades 2, 3 or
4).
