items from different places to decorate interior or to keep them as a treasure. The
specialty of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands not only can be seen in their scenic
beauty but also can be found in the crafted items made by the local peasants.
Some of the exquisite crafts made from natural raw materials in this archipelago
are:
Cane and Bamboo
Handicraft
Jewellery
Timber Craft
Wood Work
Shell Craft
Coconut Shell
Basketry and May Making and many more….

Coconut Shell and Sea Shell Crafts are based on different Geometrical Shapes
(Spheres, Hemispheres, Cylinders etc.) and Mathematical Designs (Similarity,
Congruency, Patterns etc.) which can be represented in these crafts.
Explore the varied handicrafts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and on the basis
of your observation and research ,make any one product from the above list
using the GEOMETRICAL SHAPES and MATHEMATICAL DESIGNS.
Material that can be used: Paper /leaves/bamboo sticks/satin ribbons / any
suitable fabric etc
Instructions:

1. MAKE ANY ONE OF THE ABOVE PRODUCTS AND ALSO MENTION THE
GEOMETRICAL SHAPES AND MATHEMATICAL DESIGNS THAT YOU HAVE
USED WHILE MAKING THEM.
2. ALSO WRITE DOWN AN APPROXIMATE COST OF YOUR PRODUCT IF IT IS TO
BE KEPT FOR SELLING.
3. MAKE IT AS ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE SO THAT IT CAN HAVE A GOOD
SALE VALUE OR EXHIBITION VALUE.
Marking scheme:

1. Quality and alignment with the Andaman and Nicobar art form- 2 marks
2. Sufficient geometrical shapes used -1 mark
3. Presentable and Durable- 1 mark
