HOME-BASED ACTIVITY in ARTS 7

Lesson Title: Arts and Crafts of MINDANAO

I. Learning Target
At the end of this home based learning activity, you must be able to say;
I can…
1. analyze elements and principles of art in the production one’s arts and crafts inspired by
the arts of Mindanao
2. identify characteristics of arts and crafts in specific areas in Mindanao (e.g., maritime
vessel [balanghay] from Butuan, vinta from Zamboanga; Maranao’s malong, brasswares,
okir, panolong, torogan, and sarimanok; Yakan’s fabric and face makeup and body
ornamentation; T’boli’s tinalak and accessories; Tawi-tawi’s Pangalaydance, etc.
3. incorporate the design, form, and spirit of artifacts and objects from Mindanao to one’s
creation
II. Time Frame:

 You are given 2 days to work on this home-based learning activity and must be
submitted on January 22, 2024
III. Learning Activity/Assessment:

A. Read your textbook on pages 142-152 about Arts and Crafts of Mindanao. Then do
the activity given.

Activity 1: Batik Design

Create your own floral batik using an all-purpose liquid glue. Get a piece of
white canvas or plain white thick cloth (8 X 8 inches) and draw your floral
designs on it using the glue. Let the glue dry at least for a day. Once the glue
has dried , color the design using ink dyes (printer ink is a good and
inexpensive substitute or acrylic paint). Dip the cloth in the dye or use a brush
and paint the ink/acrylic on the canvas or cloth. Let the ink/paint dry for a day.
Soak your canvas/cloth in a basin of water, then carefully scrub off the glue.
Then hang your cloth to dry.

Note: Take care of your artwork since this, along with your other artistic
outputs, will be presented in an exhibit of the arts and crafts of Mindanao.

Activity 2: Answer “IACHIEVE” activity 3 on your book on page 153 of your textbook
