Bort Escoto
Basketball Coach, Sylmar High School
10350 Borden Ave,
Sylmar, CA 91342

Dear Coach Escoto,

It has been 3 years since I was your player and pupil. I was part of the team from 2016-2020 and
it was one of the most memorable times in my life so far. It taught me lessons that I carry and
have value till this day. We’ve also had great seasons and bad ones as well, and throughout the
progression I felt that I had grown and matured each season with the help from you. I write you
this letter with the utmost respect and believe you are the most fit to write this letter. You have
seen me at my best and you have seen me at my worst. We have had many experiences where
we faced adversity and we had challenged it with perseverance and tenacity. Although I am
reminiscing about the past I would like to look forward to the future. I begin a new endeavor
where it doesn’t include a scoreboard and a ball. I express my gratitude for the life lessons
basketball has brought me and your mentorship that helped guide me. I now ask that you can do
me the honor and write a letter of recommendation for me that is due on November 1 2023.

I would also like to say that in times of distress I refer to the game where we had been on the
road and played the Powerhouse Inglewood High school. They were known to have had various
players who would later go on to be pros in the NBA. So, my nerves going into the game were
high. But, before the game you had given us a pep-talk and made me at ease. We had a stunning
performance and had outscored our opponents by 15 points. Your countenance boosted my
morale and confidence, and helped me to continue to do better that season. We did and finished
1st in league and went as far as reaching the semifinals. If you have faith in me once again I
believe it will improve my self-efficacy and warrant me in a position for success.

In the past three years I have grown and continue to develop as I have received my A.A in
Business administration and have gained a certificate in accounting. I am now an enrolled student
at CSUN and majoring in pre accountancy and plan on taking a step further in pursuing a career I
want. I think the best step would be to gain this position and have the opportunity to gain real
world experience and prepare myself for what lies ahead. You have seen the progression I have
made and I hope you help me proceed with this journey.

It would be significant for me to receive a Letter from you as I still regard you as a mentor and still
look forward to gaining advice from you. I hope this letter brings you well and I am still thankful
for being a former player.

Sincerely,

Aaron Reyes
