Abstract
The Objective was to study the comminution behavior of different materials, using a
primary crusher (jaw crusher) under various conditions, taking into consideration power
requirements. criteria for power for material grinding, a jaw crusher has a fixed plate and
a moveable plate. A mass of 1100 g was added to the jaw crusher, and the operation was
completed within 30 seconds. Take the weight of each sieve before placing the material,
then shake the sieve for 10 minutes to pass the material between the sieves from a size of
2000 µm to 63 µm. Then the weight of each sieve was taken. Then the weight of each sieve
was taken, along with the material that remained in it. Take the weight of the material
retained between the sieves to be measured at 1061.23 g. a loss of 3.52% of the fed mass
was noticed.

Discussion & Conclusion

Validity of Bond’s Law.

Conditions for Bond's law:

 The crushed material must be fragile in nature.
 The material must be reduced in size during the crushing or grinding process.
 The reduction ratio which is defined as ratio of the product size to the feed size
ranges between (1:2) to (1:100).
 The jaw crusher’s material must be tougher than the crushed material.

Check Validity of Bond’s Law:

The jaw crusher is made out steel, which is tougher the rocks. The product’s dimeter was
smaller than the feed’s dimeter. Rocks are fragile in nature. The reduction ratio for mesh 5
is 1.208:100.

From Fig.1, it could be observed that the efficiency of the jaw crusher used in the
experiment is not high enough. Most of the fed material was not well-crushed by the device.
This is noticed in Fig.1. Since the higher the finer%, the larger the diameter gets.

Different Types of Crushers

1. Jaw Crusher: A jaw crusher is a compression type crusher that breaks up materials
like rocks and ores using a fixed jaw and a moving jaw. The rock is forced against
the stationary plate by the moving jaw, which breaks it into smaller pieces. In the
mining and construction sectors, jaw crushers are frequently employed for the
initial crushing of materials.
2. A cone crusher reduces material by compressing or squeezing the feed material
between a moving piece of steel (the mantle) and a fixed piece of steel. (The bowl
liner). Between the mantle and bowl liner, the material is compressed and squeezed,
which causes it to be crushed. In the mining and aggregate sectors, cone crushers
are frequently utilized for secondary and tertiary crushing applications.
3. Impact Crusher: An impact crusher breaks materials down using the impact
principle. It comprises of a high-speed rotating rotor with hammers or blow bars
that impact the material as it enters the crusher. To fracture the material into tiny
bits, it is flung against curtains or fixed anvils. In the mining, quarrying, and
recycling sectors, impact crushers are frequently used for primary, secondary, and
tertiary crushing operations.
