KEY CHALLENGES FACED WHILE DOING THE TASK-

Challenges can arise at each stage of the recruitment process. Here are
some challenges often faced during screening resumes, contacting
candidates, and conducting interviews:

1. Resume Overload: Reviewing a large volume of resumes can be

time-consuming, making it challenging to spot the most suitable
candidates.

2. Incomplete Resumes: Some resumes may lack key information,

making it difficult to assess candidates' qualifications.

3. Unqualified Applicants: Many applicants may not meet the

basic requirements for the position, leading to a high level of initial
rejections.

4. Lack of Contact Information: Some resumes may lack clear and

updated contact details, making it challenging to reach candidates.

candidates, hiring managers, and interview panels can be tricky due to
conflicting schedules.

interviews or cancel at the last minute, disrupting the interview
process.

or assessments can hinder the evaluation process.

managers and interviewers can be challenging, potentially slowing
down the decision-making process.

be demanding.

constant challenge in recruitment.

14. Expectation Management: Managing candidates' expectations

regarding job roles and company culture can be challenging to avoid
misunderstandings.

15. Follow-Up: Keeping candidates informed about the status of

their application or next steps is vital but can be demanding.
LEARNINGS AND VALUE ADDITION-

• The full recruitment process. This includes everything from

sourcing candidates to conducting interviews to making offers. I
learnt about the different tools and technologies that recruiters
use, as well as the best practices for each stage of the process.
• How to assess talent. I learnt how to evaluate candidates'
resumes, cover letters, and interview performances to identify
the best fit for each role. And also how to be mindful of
unconscious bias and ensure that the hiring decisions are fair
and equitable.
• How to build relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
Recruitment is a people business, so it's important to be able to
build rapport with both candidates and hiring managers. Like
how to communicate effectively, answer questions, and manage
expectations.
• How to use HR technology. Most HR departments use a variety
of software to manage the recruitment process. During my
internship, I learnt how to use these tools to post job openings,
track candidates, and schedule interviews.
• How to work independently and as part of a team. Recruiters
often work independently to source and screen candidates.
However, they also need to be able to collaborate effectively
with hiring managers and other members of the HR team.
During my internship, I got the opportunity to develop both of
these skills.
In addition to these general learnings, I also have the opportunity to
learn about specific aspects of recruitment, such as diversity and
inclusion recruiting, social media recruiting, or executive recruiting.

Here is what I have learnt during internship-

• How to write effective job postings that attract qualified

candidates.
• How to screen resumes and cover letters to identify the most
promising candidates.
• How to conduct phone and video interviews.
• How to write and deliver feedback to candidates.
• How to negotiate salaries and benefits.
• How to onboard new hires.

Overall, an HR recruitment internship is a great way to learn about the

recruitment process, develop your skills, and gain valuable experience

you launch your career.
Key differences between practical exposure and theoretical concepts:

opportunity to learn about the recruitment process in the context
of a real company. This will give you a better understanding of

as employee relations and training and development.
• Feedback from experienced professionals. During your
internship, you will have the opportunity to get feedback on
your work from experienced HR professionals. This feedback
can be invaluable in helping you to develop your skills and
identify areas where you need to improve.
• Networking opportunities. Internships are a great way to
network with other HR professionals and learn about different
