 Subject pronouns – sta inaintea verbului ( subiect)


 Object pronouns – sta dupa verb

Ex: He is walking barefoot. Look at him!

 Reflexive pronouns
 se utilizeaza cu verbe precum behave, burn, cut, enjoy, hurt, introduce,
kill, look at, teach, etc. cand aceeasi persoana este si obiectul si subiectul
verbului.

Ex: Andrew has hurt himself.


(subiect) (obiect)

 se utilizeaza cu prepozitia by cand are inteles de “singur, fara compania


cuiva” sau “ fara ajutor”

Ex: Tim painted the kitchen by himself . ( Nobody helped Tim paint the kitchen)
I like being by myself sometimes. ( alone, without company- on my own)

 se utilizeaza cu urmatoarele expresii: enjoy yourself ( have a good time ),


behave yourself ( be good ) help yourself ( you’re welcome to take
something if you want )
 se utilizeaza pt.a accentua un substantive sau un pronume intr-o propozitie.
Se poate pune la inceputul sau la sfarsitul acesteia.

Ex: I myself made this cake. ( I made the cake not somebody else )
Peter met the Queen herself. ( He met the Queen not somebody else )

Obs: In general nu se utilizeaza pronumele reflexive cu verbe precum dress, wash


and shave. Putem folosi pronumele reflexive cu aceste verbe atunci cand vrem sa
aratam ca cineva a facut ceva cu un effort foarte mare.

Ex: Lucy is only two years old, but she can wash herself.
PRONUMELE - BOTH/NEITHER – ALL/NONE- POSESIVE

 Folosim pronumele both sau neither cand ne referim la doua persoane sau
obiecte.
 BOTH – are inteles pozitiv si este urmat de un verb la plural

Ex: Both girls/Both the girls/Both of the girls/Both of them are very good students

 NEITHER – are inteles negative si este urmat de un verb la singular sau plural
intr-o propozitie afirmativa

Ex:Neither book is interesting. Neither of the books/ Neither of them is/are


interesting.

BOTH + (the +) plural noun Of the/these/my/your etc.+ Of us/them etc.+are


plural noun
NEITHER + Singular noun +is Of the/these/my/your etc.+ Of us/them etc.+is/are
plural noun

 Folosim pronumele all sau none cand ne referim la maim ult de doua personae
sau obiecte

 ALL - are inteles pozitiv si este urmat de un verb la plural

Ex: All the students/All of the students/ All of them have studied for the test

 NONE - are inteles negativ si este urmat de un verb la singular sau plural intr-o
propozitie afirmativa

Ex: None of these cars is/are cheap.

ALL + (the +) plural noun Of the/these/my/your etc.+ Of us/them etc.+are

NONE + Of the/these/my/your etc.+ plural noun Of us/them etc.+is/are

Both/All pot fi utilizate si in urmatoarele cazuri:

 Dupa verbul to be.


Ex: They were both tired. They are all here.
 Dupa verbul auxiliar dat inainte de verbul principal.
Ex: They have both finished the dinner. They will all come to the party.
 La inceputul propozitiei
Ex: Both women are tall. All of the students passed the test.

BOTH….AND / NEITHER…NOR

 Folosim both..and pentru a alatura doua subiecte din doua propozitii diferite intr-
o singura propozitie cu inteles pozitiv. Verbul din propozitie este intotdeauna la
plural.

Ex: Both the lion and the tiger are wild animals.

 Folosim neither…nor pentru a alatura doua subiecte din doua propozitii diferite
intr-o singura propozitie cu inteles negativ. Verbul din propozitie este
intotdeauna la forma afirmativa si se acorda in numar cu al doilea subiect

Ex: Neither Sheila nor Mary wants to travel abroad.
