General Information (Travel System)

Travel Hydraulic System

The travel hydraulic system utilizes seven major components in the machine hydraulic system to provide
machine travel, which includes:

• Four bi-directional, two-speed travel motors, which propel the final drives and the attached track
sprockets

• The main hydraulic pumps, which supply oil for travel motor operation

• Two separate control valve spools, which control the flow of oil to the travel motors from the main
hydraulic pumps

• Travel pedals for controlling machine movement forward, rearward, and turning

• The main pilot manifold, which contains the two-speed travel solenoid valve, track tensioning / travel
parking brake solenoid. The main pilot manifold also enables the distribution of pilot oil to the travel and
swing pilot manifold.

• The travel and swing pilot manifold which contains the travel solenoids. The travel solenoids are
energized to perform the various travel operations.

• The swivel, which is the rotating connection for all travel system hydraulic oil lines between the rotating
upper structure (carbody) and the stationary lower structure.
