QUESTION 1
(a) Bar Chart

(b) Histogram
(c) Frequency Polygon

(d) Box Plot

(e) Time Series Plot
QUESTION 2

1.Output (SPSS)

2) Interpretation and Result presentation

Because p = 0.001 < 0.05, we reject the null hypothesis.
We conclude that the mean sales is marginally significant different from 115.

3) Steps by using hypothesis testing

a) State the appropriate null and alternative hypothesis

Step 1: Hypothesis
Hₒ: µ = 115
H1: µ ≠ 115
Step 2: Significant level
α= 0.05
Step 3: Rejection region (s)
Reject the null hypothesis if p-value ≤ 0.05

b) Calculate test statistic value

Step 4: Test statistic/ANOVA table (Test statistics and p-value)
C) Make your decision and conclusion

Step 5: Conclusion
Since p-value = 0.001 ≤ 0.05
We shall reject the null hypothesis

Step 6: State conclusion in words

At the α = 0.05 level of significance. We reject the null hypothesis.

We conclude that the mean of the sales is significantly different from 115.

4) Steps by using hypothesis testing

Table 1: Mean of SALES
Variable Mean (St. Deviation) t statistics P value
SALES 120.07 (7.277) 3.813 (29) < 0.001
QUESTION 3

a) State the appropriate null and alternative hypothesis

H0 = µmale = µfemale

H1 = µmale ≠ µfemale

b) Calculate test statistic value:

Steps by using hypothesis testing
Step 1: Hypothesis

H0 = µmale = µfemale

H1 = µmale ≠ µfemale

Step 2: Significant level

 = 0.05
Step 3: Rejection Region(s)
Reject the null hypothesis if p − value  0.05 .

Step 4: Test statistics and p-value

Step 5 : Conclusion
Since p – value = 0.791 < 0.05, we accept the null hypothesis.
QUESTION 4

a) State the appropriate null and alternative hypothesis

H0= µbefore = µafter
H1= µbefore ≠ µafter

b) Calculate test statistic value:

Steps by using hypothesis testing

Step 1: Hypothesis
H0= µbefore = µafter
H1= µbefore ≠ µafter

Step 2: Significant level

 = 0.05
Step 3: Rejection Region(s)
Reject the null hypothesis if p − value  0.05 .
Step 4: Test statistics and p-value

Variable Mean (Standard deviation) T-statistics (df) P-value

Before After
Weight of 70.83 (14.450) 66.03 (66.035) 6.184 (25) < 0.05
Students

Step 5 : Conclusion

Since p < 0.05, we reject the null hypothesis. We conclude that there is significant difference
between means of weight of students before and after three months on a sugar-free diet. The
mean weight of students after three months on a sugar-free diet,
66.03 is lower than the mean weight of students before three months on a sugar-freediet,
70.83.
