I am delighted to express on my name and on behalf of the Italian Sport Fishing
and Underwater Activities Federation (FIPSAS), the best greetings to all
participants at the Street Fishing World Championships that this year is going to
take place on November 11th and 12th 2023, in a charming area, rich in fantastic
lakes and channels, which, I am certain, will offer many good catch opportunities
and the possibility to enjoy wonderful days.
I am sure that all attending athletes, who will join Mantua as well as all managers,
judges and stewards will find a way to explore and appreciate our beauties and taste
Italian people’s hospitality and of all those who have made all efforts for the organization of this sport
fishing important event.
I am particularly delighted to express my warmest welcoming to all in the aim to live together some happy
days in the name of sport.
A special “good luck” to all Judges convened to manage this race, in the certainty of their professional
and fair commitment they have also expressed in precedent occasions.

Mantua is ready to welcome you for the 2nd edition of the Street Fishing
World Championship, which will take place on November 11 and 12 2023
in our splendid city, known throughout the world for its works of art and for
the particularity to be surrounded by lakes formed by the River Mincio,
stretches of water which over time have gained fame for their abundance of
fish.

In every period of the year, in fact, anglers can be seen on the banks of the
city threatening fish such as for example asp, black bass, pike, pike-perch
and perch with the spinning technique and in recent years with our great
satisfaction we register a development of young and very young people who are increasingly passionate
about this discipline.

We therefore invite all the best agonists of your national teams to participate in this event, confident it will
be a success, together with their companions who will enjoy the beauty of our Renaissance city and taste
the specialties of the Mantuan cuisine in the numerous restaurants present in this area.

INFORMATION ABOUT MANTOVA CITY

Ideas for the weekend, one, two or three days in Mantua: some suggestions to visit places of interest.
This is an itinerary in the countryside. There is also walking cycling and boating to discover the
surrounding countryside of the town.

Welcome to Mantua, a Unesco heritage city, which will amaze you with its rich artistic cultural heritage.

It is a unique city, where history and ancient art are in continuous contact with modern life. Museums,
monuments, excursions and cultural events, are just some of the reasons to experience unique,
unforgettable feelings.

Placed in the centre of the Po Valley, the city of Mantua is surrounded by lakes. The first inhabitants were
Etruscans in Sordello Square. From the XIV century, the Gonzagas developed the cultural and artistic
profile of the city, whose urban and architectural structure still exists today. Through four centuries of
governments, the Dukes of Mantua engaged the most famous artists of the times, such as Leon Battista
Alberti, Pisanello, Andrea Mantegna, Giulio Romano, Rubens and others. Their works, still mark the
splendour of the town.
THE COMPETITION VENUE

The competition venue is divided into Zone A on “Lago Superiore” and Zone B on “Lago di Mezzo” and
“Lago inferiore”.
The areas used as competition venue are marked by the red line in the map underneath.
During the training it is allowed to fish in both sectors.

THE FISH SPECIES

The only valid fish species to be caught are: perch, zander, pike, black bass, asp.

In case of doubt about the legal size, the steward will participate in measuring the fish. The measure is
taken from the tip of the lips to the end of the tail in its natural position and in its maximum extension.
LURE

Only artificial lures are allowed (swimming fish, soft lures, metal lures, etc.). Artificial fly fishing, in all
its forms, is prohibited (examples: dry flies, nymph flies, streamers, jig or micro-jig in feathers or hair,
etc.) (red card). Every natural bait, in all its forms, is strictly prohibited (dead or alive, in formalin, freeze-
dried, earthworms, squid, bacon, bread, vegetables, etc.) (red card).
Lures will be fitted with single, double or triple hooks with a maximum of 2 hooks in compliance with
local regulations. A rod can be equipped with two lures, but there cannot be more than 2 hooks in total
(red card).

FROM THE INTERNATIONAL RULES

 Competitors may reach the fishing location of their choice without to use any means of transport (i.e.
it will be allowed to move only on foot)
 The competition shall take place by sectors, in two legs. Each leg will have a duration of 5 hours
without interruptions. During the 5 fishing hours, pairs will be able to move freely in all the spots
present in their sector. All movements within the sector must be made on foot.
 Using attractive aromas, flavours and oils is only allowed to impregnate the artificial lures. All types
of groundbaits, baits, pastes, oils, natural or artificial flavours poured into the water or impregnated
on anything other than the lure in order to attract fish are prohibited (red card).
 Using echosounder is only allowed during training (red card).
 Gaffs and fish-grips or fish tongs are prohibited (red card).
 Deliberate foul hooking of fish is prohibited (red card).
 The fishing action must be carried out only with the rod held in the hand and not with a rod placed on
the ground or something else with the lure in the water (red card).
 A smartphone per angler is required to take the photos validating the catch of fish and their size done
with the tool that will be made available to each angler by the organizer.
The photos must be immediately sent to the organizers through a special mobile application (APP)
provided by the organizers themselves. The use of this application is mandatory.
The validation of the immediate re-entry into the water of a fish caught and measured must be carried
out each time by the pair’s steward.
On the photos of the catches of fishes it is essential that the armband, the badge or the fishing license
of the concerned angler is visible.

The venue shall be closed from 6 November to 8 November for all the members of the participating
official delegations. During these 3 days, training at the venue shall be forbidden for all Nations in the
entire area chosen for the championship, as well as 500 metres upstream and downstream of said area.
It will be possible to fish in other part of the lake.

Mantua is 45 minutes from Verona, 55 minutes from Modena, and 2 hours from Milan and Venice. The

REGISTRATION AT STREET FISHING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Registrations for the Street Fishing World Championship should be made within 16th October 2023
through the area of the FIPSed web site https://fips-ed.org/ (under construction)
All additional information will be handed to teams on registration.

All teams should register on Wednesday 08 November 2023 between 10:30 am and 01:00 pm in Zone A
on competition venue.
The Committee will be present to provide you with further information on the event.

Each country should bring national flags and a CD of its national anthem.

Reason for the bank transfer: Street Fishing – Name of Federation

The registration fee includes 8 tickets for the gala dinner, 6 fishing permits for the whole duration of the
championship (for both training and competition days), insurance and sundry expenses such as gifts, cups,
trophies, etc. It is possible to buy a ticket for the closing banquet for the price of 60 Euros. The application
must be made together with the team registration for the competition.
The participating Nations are charged of all accommodation costs.

The Federations, in addition to the medals devoted to the official members of the Delegation, will be
allowed to ask on place for extra medals (up to a maximum of 3 per team), upon payment of a contribution
of € 25 per extra medal, which will also include the diploma. The fees for extra medals shall be paid to
the organisers, who will then transfer the sum to F.I.P.S.e.d. In no case and for no reason extra medals in
a number higher than that provided by these Rules may be requested from F.I.P.S.e.d.
 ANTI-DOPING INFORMATION
TUE REQUESTS

The athletes participating in the Championship, with the registration, implicitly accept all WADA anti-
doping rules. Athlete whose illness or condition requires treatment with a prohibited substance or method
must apply to CIPS for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) following the CIPS strict TUE application
process.
He/she shall then use the application form, which can be downloaded from the ITA website:

If the TUE is granted, the athlete will then be permitted to use the medication during the period of validity
of the TUE without committing an Anti-Doping Rules Violation (ADRV).
Regardless of whether a TUE has been granted or not, athletes should always declare on the doping control
forms filled out during sample collection any medications and supplements taken within the seven days
prior to sample collection, and any blood transfusions in the three months prior for blood samples.
If a TUE has already been granted by a NADO or by a RADO, the Athlete in question does not have to
apply for any additional CIPS TUE, as CIPS recognizes all TUE granted by NADOs and RADOs.
