Content: Routine Business Letters
Type : fully blocked letter writing convention

Part A: To write a letter/email of enquiry or reply


Part B: To write a letter/email of procurement
or reply

Note: Test either on letter for Part A,


email for Part B or vice versa.
WRITTEN ASSESSMENT (PAIR WORK)

25 % ( WEEK 11) 2 hours


ASSESSMENT
A sample of poorly written business correspondence will be provided
by the class lecturer.
Students have to:
A) a. write a paragraph of 200-250 words
b. describing the mistakes discovered in the selected poorly
business correspondence.
c. The description should focus on the attributes of good
values and
attitudes which are not displayed in the sample.
B) Rewrite the letter to display the attributes of good values and
attitudes in business correspondence.
PORTFOLIO (GROUP WORK)

15 % (Submission in WEEK 13) 4 weeks


Students have to compile systematically either authentic or
online materials in a Portfolio. This Portfolio will have 3 parts :
Part A- Notes on qualities of good business correspondence
(emails/memos/letters)
Part B- Samples of routine business letters (Enquiries and
Procurement)
Part C- Samples of bad message letters (Complaint and
Resignation)

30% (WEEK 14) 2 hours


Content: Bad message letters
Type : Fully blocked letter writing
convention

Part A: To write a letter of complaint


or adjustment to complaint
Part B: To write a letter of resignation
