Reflection at End of Term:


This semester I believe working on my ability to teach and the strategies that I have incorporated in math have been one of my biggest
areas of growth and development. Previously, I have never taught math before and so I was unsure as to how to approach the material
and scaffold it accordingly for the age group. Since the beginning of the semester I have incorporated numerous different types of
strategies within my teaching such as incorporating movement within math, gamifying topics both with and without technology, splitting
classes into varying ability levels in order to greater target skills, using logic and real world problems, the use of songs and videos, regular
practice of math facts and having ongoing projects that students can be working on.
● I have grown in my ability to teach concepts and strategies within the math curriculum.
● I have grown in my ability to sequence activities and form unit plans for different topics. I have been able to see and practice going
through the importance of spiraling through the math curriculum.
● I have been able to observe different math lessons and collaborate with colleagues on different strategies, assessments and
activities for the math curriculum.

Overall I have put in a strong effort in both reflection of how I have been teaching math and what I could do in the future to address these
issues I identified. I have become more comfortable with the subject matter of teaching math as well as found resources and strategies
that I can use in order to continue this growth moving forward within my career.

Reflection at End of Term:


Throughout this semester I have continued to reflect on and grow in areas of classroom management. This specifically evolved into how I
can effectively and intentionally grow my relationship with all students but also students that required specific and additional supports.
During the course of my PIP and my time collaborating with colleagues one of the most consistently recommended classroom strategy
was to be able to build relationships with your students. I used multiple different approaches and strategies to build these relationships as
well as more direct strategies within the classroom. Some of these included: intentional time spent with students outside of class time,
finding and attempting different strategies to help students with their challenges in the classroom, and proactively addressing areas in the
classroom in order to minimize problems during lessons and activities. One of the biggest areas that I believe is most important for
classroom management is to be able to reflect on the strategies that are being implemented and see if they are working or not. Dynamics
within the classroom are always shifting and it is important to be able to adapt and try new strategies in order to address issues within the
class. Being consistent, fair and reflective are core values that will take forward with me as I look to continue to grow in this area in my
career.
