WHAT IS COMMUNICATION AND BARRIER ?

• Communication is the activity of conveying


meaningful information. It requires a sender, a
message, and an intended recipient.
• Barrier An obstacle in a place that prevents
us from completing certain tasks.
• Communication barriers can be defined as
the aspects or conditions that interfere with
effective exchange of ideas or thoughts.

An organization is a deliberate creation of management for the attainment of
certain specific objectives. Following are the reasons:
• Organizational Structure Barriers

• Hierarchical Barriers

• Poor Spatial Arrangements

• Wrong Choice of Medium

• Organizational Rules and Regulations

FACTORS CAUSING ORGANIZATIONAL BARRIER
• Complex organizational structure and long chain of communication.

• Rigidity in the formal channels of communication.

• Poor spatial arrangements in the organization.

• Wrong selection of the medium of communication.

• Delay in message due to strict rules and regulations.

HOW TO ORGANIZATIONAL OVERCOME

• Shortening the chain of communication.

• Flexibility in the channels of communication.

• Proper seating arrangements.

• Selection of proper channel of communication.

SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIERS
Socio-psychological barriers are the most difficult barriers to
communication because they arise due to human nature, feelings,
emotions, aims and aspirations. These consist of the following:

• Differences in perceptions.

• Status barrier.

• Attitudes and opinion.
