In a survey done in Facebook on July 28, 2011 with thirty respondents (11 females and 19 males) from different countries were asked Why do men hate/dislike carrying umbrellas? Eighteen people said it's too much trouble to carry, five said I don't mind carrying an umbrella because it has a concealed sword in the stem while four of them said that they're not as bothered with the effects of the sun on the skin as women are, while three of them said that it diminishes their macho look. Rain, Rain GoAway!

Teru Teru Bozu, which literally means shine shine monk in English,
is a rain amulet. It is a little doll made using white papers or cloth, a string and a black marker. Hanging it right side up is praying for good weather, while hanging it upside down is wishing for rain. Japanese hang it by their windows and sing a song (composed by Shinpei Nakayama and published in 1921) asking for a clear weather today, tomorrow and every day. The bald head of the teru teru bozu is associated with the shiny bald of Buddha. This tradition became popular in Japan during Edo period and is still being practiced today.
