Other Commonly Used Yoga Formulations


Yogas from both Bṛhat Pārāśara Hora and/or Phaladīpika

NAME OF THE YOGA HOW THE YOGA IS FORMED

Parivartana (exchange, barter) Mutual exchange of two House Lords

Dainya (wretchedness, affliction) Mutual exchange of a Trik Lord with any of the remaining 11 Houses

Koala (contest, battle) Mutual exchange of the 3rd Lord with any non-Dussthāna Lord

Maha (great) Mutual exchange of two non-Dussthāna Lords

Adhi A (strongly conditioned) NB found in each of the 6H, 7H and 8H from


the Lagna or the Moon

Budhaditya ME in Association with the SU (when both are FTS or “well-placed”);


ideally they are in the 1H or 5H

Chandramangala MO & MA in Association or Mutual Aspect (both FTS or “well-placed”)

Dhana Association or Mutual Aspect of any 2 Lords of Houses: 1, 2, 5, 9, 11


(especially noteworthy when FTS or “well-placed”)

Gajakesari JU in Kendra from the Lagna or MO and Associated or Aspected by


another NB and JU is without weak condition (no need from the MO)

Kuja Doṣa MA in Houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 or 12. Some count these locations of MA from


the MO and VE as well [especially if MA is within 7.5° of the degree (°)
position of the MO, VE, and/or the Ascendent’s degree (°)].

Mahālakṣmī Both the 9L and VE are in Exaltation or SVA Raśī in a Kendra or Kona
(must be 2 different planets & neither be “mixed condition” FTS & FTW

Pravrajya 4 or more planets in Association with one another

Viparita the Lord of one Dussthana found in another Dussthana (preferably in


strong condition). There must be Lords of at least 2 Dussthanas.
