Sample BIP - Beatrice
● Beatrice is an 8 year old student who has difficulty getting out of her seat without
the teachers permission and will run around the classroom/hallway when
redirected.
● FBA: Beatrice’s behavior occurs when she is not receiving one-on-one adult
attention. She gets out of her chair and wanders in order to gain the attention she
desires.
● Target Behaviors: Out of seat without permission and running around
● Replacement Behaviors: Engage in “waiting tasks” when needing attention from
the teacher and self-monitor her behavior when waiting for attention.
● Strategies and Techniques: Positive reinforcement from teacher for waiting
patiently and staying in her seat. Self-regulating strategies for the student to
monitor her behavior, followed by positive reinforcement.
● Reinforcement Plan: Reinforce with specific positive praise and brief
individualized attention.
● Data Collection: Recording every time she gets out of her seat, why and for how
long. Record how Beatrice responds to positive reinforcement and how her
behavior improves.
