Module 3: To identify effective teaching behaviors derived from classroom research and to incorporate them into practice
Intended Learning Outcome: At the end of this module, the student must have:
1. Differentiated the good bad bad behavior of a teacher in secondary social studies
2. Demonstrated different skills showing an effective and efficient teacher through role playing.
3. Created a poster-slogan promoting the good qualities of a social studies teacher.
A. Introduction
Effective teachers strive to motivate and engage all their students in learning rather than simply accepting that some students cannot be engaged and are destined to
do poorly. They believe every student is capable of achieving success at school and the do all they can to find ways of making each students successful.

List down ten (10) good and bad qualities of a teacher.

C. Analysis
Based on the above activity answer the following questions below.
1. In what instance can you say that a teacher possesses a good and bad qualities in teaching?

I will know when a teacher possesses good and bad qualities when he/she started to have a class. I can tell what kind of teacher he/she is, the way he/she behaves and handle
the situation. His//her character is being test and seen by his/her students every day and probably that kind of behavior can influence the mental, social, physical, and
psychological aspects of a student. Either he/she can bring inspiration, joy, or hatred to the class. I can say that the students will behave properly when a teacher filled with
positive traits, right ethics, and knows how to establish genuine relationship to his/her students. I believe that it is a great factor to uplift the spirit of a student to learn and
study more. Having bad qualities as a teacher does not help for it will only create an environment where students does not have the heart and willingness to learn and also,
discourage them not to participating in the class.
2. Does these activity gives you the idea what must be done in order to become a good and effective teacher?
Yes, it is and indeed, it helps me a lot to become a good and effective teacher someday. These kinds of positive traits are so beneficial to me especially, in building trust,
respect, and sincere relationship with my students. Possessing these good behaviors will create an environment where the students are always feeling motivated and inspired to
learn and to study more. Good qualities are more advantageous than having bad traits which bring a lot of negative things to my students and I will surely say that I will not
tolerate that kind of attitude within me. Moreover, having good qualities make the class smooth and fun at the same time filled with joy and happiness in their hearts, I know
seeing the students enjoying, engaging, and participating in the class is so uplifting and fulfilling to watch and this is the kind of atmosphere I want to build in the classroom
someday. Nevertheless, possessing positive traits can bring positive changes to the character and personality of the students so therefore, I must instill and practice it.
3. As a future social studies teacher, what good qualities of a teacher should you possess? Why or why not?
As a future social studies teacher, the good qualities that I must possess is that I should have the heart of compassion for my students. Willingness to listen to their concerns
and sentiments is very big help to lessen their mental and emotional breakdowns, we do not know their situations and maybe they are battling right now that will cause them to
discourage to learn and to study. Students nowadays suffers a lot in terms of depression and anxiety and the world needs a teacher who is open to hear all of their sentiments, it
is one way to elevate to their selves to keep on going even life is full of trials and difficulties. Being lovable, respectful, and full of positive vibes, these kinds of traits that I
must also possess within me, I always dream to have a classroom where hate has no room and all of my students are treated equally with no favoritism. Nevertheless, I must
become a good example to all of my students having good ethics and values which will mold them in a right way.
D. Abstraction
Answer the following guide questions below to help you understand the principle on how to become a good and effective teacher.
1. How will you manage your imperfections in dealing or managing your students?
I admit that I have a lot of imperfections but it does not define my whole being and I will ensure that I will continue to correct and improve myself for my betterment. In
dealing with and managing my students having these various imperfections has no effect the way I deal with their negative attitudes and agendas. I will continue to give
my best part to them even though I have these imperfections within me. I will handle them as long as I can for them to become more productive in their studies. I will
continue to guide them in the right direction and correcting all their wrongdoings. I will ensure that all of my students’ negative behaviors will be corrected right away.
And if they have a problem I will always here for them ready listen to all of their concerns. I want them to be open to me and also, I want them to inculcate in their minds
that there is hope in every storm and a rainbow after the rain. I will continuously love them wholeheartedly and offer my utmost care to them and I will not hold any
grudge in them even they are having bad behaviors towards me.
2. Is it important to possess a good behavior in order to be an effective teacher?
Indeed, possessing good behavior is a great factor to become an effective teacher. If the teacher is having all of these traits surely, the students will be more willing to
learn and engage in any discussions or activities. Having these positive traits will set the classroom in a healthy and friendly learning environment where care, love, and
peace prevail. It is so beneficial because the good behavior that we are practicing right now is the greatest asset that will influence and bring a positive impact to the
behavior and character of our students. So, therefore, we must value this good behavior within us and let it bloom and flourish in all aspects of our lives. Truly, it will
bring a legacy to our students because we are setting a good example to them, teaching them how to become better people with ethics, moral values, and an upright
mindset. Nevertheless, good behavior shows positive attitudes towards and it is significant for us that we should always possess.
3. Why it is important to have a good behavior as a teacher rather than to have a higher IQ in teaching?
It is significant to have good behavior as a teacher rather than to have a higher IQ in teaching because having a good behavior will develop every student their personal
qualities including good communication and interpersonal skills and they are not hesitant to express themselves towards their teachers and their classmates. Possessing
good behavior is essential in many aspects not only in school but in our homes and our society and this positive trait will provide us the personal benefits that will develop
our inner morale, values, and virtues. Unlike having an IQ in teaching and yes, shall we say he/she was smart but his/her emotions are low and weak and cannot deal with
real-life challenges for they are lacking with their emotional aspect and automatically tend to give up right away because they cannot handle the pressure. Therefore, as a
teacher, I must possess good behavior and set it as an example to my students, and by the end of the day, they will imitate what I have been set in the classroom, and along
the way, they can use it and get ready themselves to face and manage the real challenges in their lives.
E. Application
Demonstrate through role playing/teaching demonstration that shows a different skill of an effective teacher.
