Create your own style in making your timeline of your life.
C. Analysis
Based on the activity above answer the following questions below.
1. In doing your activity did you discover something important towards your family?
I, therefore, conclude that whatever it takes or whatever happens to us, our family will always be there to take care of us and love us unconditionally. My family is one of
the precious gifts that God has given especially, for the life of my Lola because she took all the responsibility to look after me when I was an infant, and up until now that I
am in my adulthood that supposed to be that was the responsibility of my biological mother. Moreover, when something went wrong and I am not okay, she is the one who
is ready to be there reminding me to be strong at all times, and also, she is my strength and shoulder to lean on when I have various problems. I am also thankful for all of
my friends who became my second family especially my churchmates indeed, they are all worth to be treasured because they imparted a lot of things to me particularly, in
molding my personality and character for the better.
2. How does an important event or history in your life affects your behavior?
Those significant events mold my behavior in many ways particularly, when the time that I know God through the campus ministry of Covenant Life Church. This was the
most major turning point of my life where all my vices were gone specifically, my addiction to games and cutting classes. When I always remember the moment when I
was saved and redeemed by the Lord, I cannot stop praising Him for what He did for me and indeed, God can able to turn impossible things into possible. Furthermore, I
have become a better individual with goals and dreams in my life, and I became a humble person, a giver, and a joyous one who was fully contented for whatever I have
even it been small or big. Moreover, my Lola was one of the factors that drive me to change my mindset in reaching my dreams because every time I think of her it always
reminds me to keep on going and keep on striving for success. Nevertheless, those various significant moments of my life are truly special and memorable things that
happen in my life.
3. In what instance does your family affects your decision making in choosing social studies as your profession?
First of all, my Lola was the one who influence me to take the course of education. Way back in her college days, she takes the course of education but she was not able to
pursue the course for the reason that my grandfather has so many vices. She cannot sustain all the fees and her personal needs thus; she stops schooling and began to find a
job. Until now she always reminisced about her past and I can see in her eyes that there is inner dismay in herself because of what happened. So, I decided to take up a
Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Studies to fulfill her dream through me. She was the fuel in my engine that drives me to pursue this noblest course. Aside
from my Lola, there was also a teacher who inspires me to take social studies as my majoring. He was my 2nd-year high school adviser in Araling Panlipunan and I am
deeply amazed by his ways of teaching where we totally understand the topic that was being discussed. He was so cool, enjoyable, and enthusiastic teacher and from that
moment, I was fully motivated to pursue this major without any doubt.
Abstraction
The understanding of social studies is important both to the teachers and students for meaningful social studies interaction. The subject is increasingly vital in helping to
create individuals who are active dynamic participants in our society. This view of social studies raises the problem of the organization of its interrelated components and how to
make students become conscious of the underlying forces that make up its elements and other related phenomena.
As a beginner teacher in social studies, we need to painstakingly create a medium to resolve this dilemma for our students.
Answer the following guide questions below to determine how far understanding about this topic:
1. How are you going to develop yourself as social studies student to become an active and dynamic participant in our society?
First of all, as a social studies student, I need to involve myself in any activities in my community so that I can be able to harness my critical thinking skills wherein I can
impart my knowledge to provide some possible solutions to lessen the complications that my society are facing right now. In addition, I can be able to enhance my
comprehension in a depth manner and totally understand the needs of my society. I believe that if I involve myself in any projects, tasks, advocacy, or even in the campaign
for the goodness of my society, there is learning, growth, and development that will cultivate my whole being to become a good servant and a better citizen of my
community. There is no development if I let myself be a prisoner doing nothing without challenging my capacity. I need to go out in my comfort zone, socialize with
others, and participate in any agendas that will become a legacy for the next generation. Nevertheless, I will constantly and continuously use my skills and knowledge and
all that I have learned in school to the progression and betterment of my society.
2. In your own perspective, why there is a need to undergo several trainings and seminars to improve yourself as a beginner teacher in social studies?
I personally believe that learning is continuous particularly, it is a never-ending process. Every day I need to grow and learn new things and I need to explore more in order
to improve myself for the better. Participating in various trainings and seminars will enhance my skills, knowledge, and understanding that will better equip me to become
an efficient and effective teacher to my students. As a beginner teacher in social studies, this is a must or shall I say I am obliged to attend because this sort of event will
prepare me to harness and become an expert to my major as well as to master the field of teaching. It will impart several teaching styles, methods, strategies, and
approaches which is so beneficial in teaching purposes and can be also applied in all aspects of my life. Nevertheless, I will keep developing myself, enhancing my
weaknesses, and building up my strengths because I am not perfect and I have a lot of things to work out. I will continue to learn and grow as long as I live.
3. Do you think involving yourself into civic activities can help you boast your confidence to become effective and efficient social studies teacher in the future? Explain
your answer in 5 sentences.
Definitely yes, involving myself in different civic activities can help me to become more efficient and effective social studies teacher to my students. Engaging myself in
these agendas like volunteering, participating in group activities in my barangay or association, community gardening, voting, pursuing some beneficial advocacies, having
national service, etc. is one way to develop my character and personality to become a better citizen of my society. Getting involved in this task or project can develop a
unification for all that is filled with joy, peace, and compassion for others. Moreover, it will teach me to become a more responsible community-minded citizen who knows
my duty and liability. Furthermore, I can develop my social interaction skills and boost my self-confidence, determination, and positive attitudes. In addition, this kind of
example of mine will be seen by my students and will inspire them to become better individuals with an upright mindset and appropriate ethical character. In this way, I can
be able to teach my students how to become good citizens with total responsibility to their society because, in the first place, I was been able to set myself as an example to
them.

I am Melvin F. Pagunsan but you can call me “Marvs” for short. I am already 24 years old and I am currently residing in Purok Himaya Barangay Mansilingan,

Bacolod City, we are 4 siblings and I am the eldest among them. I graduated from my elementary level in Antonio L. Jayme Elementary School. Further, I graduated

from my junior high level in Bacolod City National High School and from my senior high level in Bacolod City Senior High School as a former Humss student. Now, at

my college level, I am currently studying at Bago City College and I am already in my 3rd-year college taking up the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social

Studies. My hobbies in life are playing games but in a manageable way, playing guitar, and composing songs basically, I love music so much and I appreciate any genre

of music even that is an old or new one because all of it is an act of art, a feeling of expression, and a masterpiece work that needs to be valued, and also, I love to jam

with everyone and it is my pleasure to share my talent with them. Anyway, I lived in my grandmother's house particularly, I came from a broken family and my parents

were separated when I was a newborn baby so I did not ever experience having a complete family but I always dream that one day I can experience that significant event

for once in a lifetime and feel the love and care of my both biological parents. Moreover, I am blessed for the life of my Lola because she never doubts taking the full

liability and responsibility to take care of us. She loves us unconditionally despite what happened in the past. Until now, we always felt the same love that she gave us at

the start. I owe everything to her and I will make sure that all of her sacrifices on me together with my siblings will be paid off soon.

The one who influences me to pursue the course of education is my Lola and the one who inspired me to take this major course is my teacher in Araling Panlipunan back

in my 2nd-year high school due to his effective teaching style and cool personality, I am slowly admiring his way of teaching and I commend him more because he always

makes sure that His subject will never get boring and before we leave to the 4 corners of the room, we must gain something that is so beneficial and instill it to our minds

and apply all the learnings that we obtained in all aspects of our life. Primitively, my primary goal when I was a kid is to become an educator and I always imagine in

myself how does it feel to become a teacher. At first, I was scared and feeling nervous to take this course because I feel that I cannot do it and I am not suitable for it. I

doubt my capacity and there are many what-ifs in my head but the one who encourages me in my time of uncertainty is my Lola, she tells me to take courage and be

brave to pursue the dream that I want. She strengthens me not only by his words but also, in her actions. She came along with me in my first take in the college entrance

exam. By the way, I am a shifter from Bachelor of Arts Major in History and that was the time that I take my first college entrance exam and I thank God for I passed
the exam indeed, I was so joyous at that moment and I cannot express me what I feel. Moreover, before the first year of the 2nd semester, I have a plan to shift in the

course of education. So, I decided to take the risk and hope that I can make it through, I was screened by one of the college deans and interviewed after that, she tells me

that I passed all the requirements of their department, I was so happy at that time and my heart was full of celebration. Truly, all glory belongs to the Lord and I

praised Him for this privilege that He has given me. I know this is the starting point of my journey to become a teacher and I will continue to keep going and strive

harder to reach it.

First of all, the importance of Social Studies Education is that it will inculcate every people to have national consciousness and national unity that will make them

become better citizens, who are capable to develop full responsibility for the betterment of their society. It will also instill the right types of values and attitudes in which

it is a significant trait that everyone should be possessed thus, it will create a society filled with love, harmony, and peace. Besides, it will give us a clear and deep

understanding of fundamental concepts of culture, history, economics, politics, constitutional laws, citizenship, rights and duties, morals and virtues, social code of

conduct, evolution and issues in society, various landscapes, and different places and etc. Nevertheless, it will make us more aware of our roles, accountabilities, and

consequences of our actions. According to NERDC (2007:69) the general objectives of Social Studies include to 1.) Develop the ability, in learners – old or young, to

adapt to changing environment 2.) Promote understanding among students both nationally and globally, 3.) Be able to think in a critical and logical way, 4.) Help us

understand the importance of hard work and honesty in society. 4.) Understand the laws of our country and be able to obey them, and 5.) Understand the environment,

its problems and be able to solve them. Social studies in a general manner prepare students for a useful life so that they can be responsive and responsible members of

their immediate societies and good citizens to their nations.

The goals that I want for myself as a teacher is, I want to become a teacher who will inspire my students and motivate them to be the best version of themselves as well as

to remind them to study harder and persevere to reach their future goals. Furthermore, I want to be a teacher who will be remembered by everyone because of the

wisdom and good things that I taught over them. I want to improve my weaknesses and master all the teaching styles, methods, and strategies in which I will be able to

deliver my discussion to my students in a clear and precise way. Becoming an effective teacher is not easy but I will do my very best to be that one in order to give the
best quality education to my students nevertheless, I will continue to enhance my frailties every day particularly, in all aspects for the betterment of myself. I personally

believe that the nature of social studies is to cultivate the minds of every individual to know their duties and responsibilities as well to be aware of their actions and to

perceive the various consequences that bring either negative or positive effects to their society and also, to help them informed and make reasoned decisions in a critical

way of thinking for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world. As mentioned by (Rogayan Jr., 2021) Social Studies

is a key tool in this changing world. It serves as the foundation of social development across the country and acts as an agent of change that transforms an individual into

an effective citizen of the nation. The importance of learning social studies for the students is to be able to understand the real-world issues around them specifically, on

what is happening in their community wherein they can be able to be a part of the solution to change the malfunctioning system of their society which will give greater

benefits to all. Furthermore, it will also enhance their critical thinking skills and boost their confidence to participate in any kinds of activities or agendas in their

community. As well as molding them to become citizens with moral values and respect filled with compassion for others.
