REALIZATION, INSIGHT AND LEARNINGS

How do the values exemplified by the stories affect our actions as Filipino citizens?
Student’s Answer:

Every story concludes with a moral lesson from which we can all learn. Reading the stories taught
me how different values might influence our actions. The stories capture Filipino people's values,
traditions, and cultural identity. It is a form of folklore that conveys and leaves a message.
Sometimes, they dwell so much on things that do not matter and neglect the things that truly matter.
Each narrative contains lessons that we can apply to our daily lives. And in my personal experience,
I can relate to several of them.

As I read the first story, "Respect for Life," I realized the importance of respecting others. It is a
significant value that every Filipino must embrace to reflect in society. It reminds us that to be
respected, we must likewise respect others. The second story, "Father's Mistake," This story
perfectly describes my own experience. I used to spend most of my time doing all my coursework
to the point that I no longer eat with my family due to the heavy burden. It reflects the significance
of family. I realized I could finish my schoolwork later because spending time with my family is
far more essential, and we only have a limited amount of time with them, so why not make the
most of it? These are just a few of my insights into some of the stories. Nonetheless, the values
portrayed in the stories might help Filipinos reflect on their own lives and internalize the values
reflected in the stories.

In conclusion, the ideals inherent in Filipino stories work as a moral compass, directing the
community's actions and decisions, both personal and community. It motivates people to make
positive contributions to their communities and the nation. We must reflect on our activities and
focus on what is essential and what is not. The values described in the story are just a few we should
live by. It can alter our society by producing skilled individuals to make the world a better place
for everyone.
