The two passages describe about the rise of technology.
Passage 1 tells technology makes their lives outside of work
easier. On the other hand, passage 2 debates about that technology is destroying their quality of life. Both passages present valid points, passage 1, which is in favor of the rise of technology is essential, makes the strongest evidences. Passage 1 states that when technology first developed, people disliked it because it would ruin their life. This is not true, our today era is built up based on technology. The author used logical reasoning to prove his point that technology is the world most used system by stating that technology has opened up a whole new world of educational possibilities for ourselves and our children. Some people says that emails, tests, and social media are addictive. That is absolutely not true technology makes people easier to communicate with family, friends, and relative when they did not keep in touch. Moreover, passage 1 said a 2014 survey of middle school students found that 83 percent said that lessons incorporating technology, such as online games and research would make them much more likely to be interested in a lesson. In this modern age, everyone has mobile phones and everything they want to know could search on this. In addition, the author of the passage 1 shown by studies that a higher percentage of Americans report that technology has brought them closer to friends and family than they had before. Not only making claims but also providing evidence. Due to all those logical sense the readers can infer that technology would bring more benefits than harmful effects. However, the opponent of the passage 2 argued that today’s technology is destroying their life because everyone is spending their time by checking their emails and massages, scrolling up and down their phones. Another argument in the text is that they ended up multitasking. They provide that multitasking is an efficient way and it also prevents in higher numbers of work errors. Passage 2 also report that American workers are using phones with their workplaces outside of the duty time. According to those reasons readers can prefer passage 2 is lacked of reasonable evidence. To conclude, due to a factor of evidence, passage 1 is better-supported and much more convincing than passage 2. Though there is some evidence provided in passage 2, it is weak and vague. Therefore, passage 1 is much more stronger than its counterpart because it is more significantly better-supported.
