• Using External power cable

• Remove the jumpers and wire the power cable as
shown (-48VDC)

22 AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4000 LICENSING
• Within WTM 4000, software-based license keys are used to enable groupings of Carrier
Ethernet features, specific radio features and switch capacity.

• No pluggable media device to hold licenses (like the flash card on CTR)
• Licenses are keyed directly to the WTM serial number

• As standard, license keys are not downloaded onto the product prior to shipment

• At power-on, ALL licensed features are enabled for customer use, for a period of 60 days.
• After 60-days, the terminal will revert to those features that have license keys loaded.
• If the terminal is powered off, the 60-day “countdown” will be paused during that non-
operational period.

Note: The default trail license must be activated

23 AVIAT NETWORKS

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM4000 UNPACKING

Typical components for a WTM 4000 installation will be these key

items:
▪ 2x WTM 4000 radio terminals
▪ 2x suitable direct-mount antennas
▪ Cables to connect to user equipment
▪ Cables to connect power supply (either direct DC or PoE)
▪ PoE injectors if needed

Accessory kit there should be:

▪ 2x long cable glands
▪ 1x 2m earth strap
▪ 1x tube of silicon grease

28 AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM4000 PHYSICAL INSTALLATION (ANTENNA)
Antenna installation
▪ Install the antenna as per the manufacturer specification.
▪ Set the polarization rotator according the link design documentation.
▪ Apply a thin layer of silicon grease around the O-ring on the antenna
▪ Coarsely align the antenna

ODU installation on the antenna (direct mount)

▪ Remove the protective tape from the antenna interface
▪ Tighten the four (4) mounting bolts carefully until the units is completely secured to
the antenna

29 AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM4000 PHYSICAL INSTALLATION (ODU)

ODU installation on the antenna (remote mount)

▪ Install a suitable flexible waveguide between the WTM
4000 and the antenna
▪ Ensure the required gaskets are fitted and all bolts are
tightened.

Note: if operating in any 6-11 Ghz band

▪ Install a waveguide adapter to the outside of the WTM
4000.

▪ Ensure the required gaskets are fitted and
all bolts are tightened.
▪ Install the Waveguide to Coax adapter to
connect to the DIV antenna. DIV MAIN
Note: if operating in any 6-11 Ghz band
▪ Install a waveguide adapter to the outside
of the WTM 4000.

31 AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM4000 PHYSICAL INSTALLATION ( GROUND CABLE)
Grounding the WTM4000

▪ Must be 16mm² minimum

▪ Used the M6 bolt and fasten the single-lug end.

▪ Ensure the cable is correctly aligned towards the tower.

▪ Run the ground wire down to its ground point using the shortest practical path.

▪ Do not loop or spiral the ground wire.

▪ Apply conductive grease/paste around the ground connections on both end

32 AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM4000 PHYSICAL INSTALLATION ( DC CABLE)
Powering the WTM4000
▪ Using an external power supply

▪ Remove the gland cap cover labeled PWR

▪ Remove the green DC connectors

▪ Carefully depress the orange tabs to remove each

jumper, and then discard the jumpers.

▪ Used a twin-core DC cable suitable, outdoor rated,

cable
▪ A maximum cross-sectional area per conductor of 1.5
mm² (AWG 16) may be used.
▪ Disassemble a long gland and pass the wire through
the gland.

Powering the WTM4000
▪ Using an external POE
▪ Remove the gland cap cover labeled PWR
▪ ensure the DC connector with jumpers is already
inserted and the screws fastened.

▪ Remove the gland cap over the gland labelled “GE1”.

▪ Used ETH cable provided by Aviat or any outdoor

rated cat5e cable.

WARNING: Damage to the WTM 4000 may occur when removing the PoE injector while there is power on
the Ethernet cable feeding the radio. To avoid this, first disconnect the PoE, then remove the PoE injector.

35 AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM4000 PHYSICAL INSTALLATION ( SFP & FIBER )
SFP and Fiber installation
▪ Remove the gland cap cover labeled SFP1 or SFP2

▪ Insert the SFP inside the terminal, until the locking.

▪ Loosen the gland that is pre-assembled onto the fiber

cable
▪ Insert the LC connectors until they are both locked.

▪ Gently move the gland back up the cable and carefully

screw until it is tight against the housing.

SWITCHING & ROUTING (L1-LINK AGGREGATION 1/5)
• Link Aggregation (L1LA)
First begin by creating a VLAN for the L1LA configuration on both WTM1. In the example below, VLAN
300 is used for L1LA.

SWITCHING & ROUTING (L1-LINK AGGREGATION 1/5)
• Link Aggregation (L1LA)
L1LA on the WTM is achieved using the Master – Slave model.
WTM1 will be configured as Master while WTM2 will configured as Slave.

CONFIGURATION ON WTM_1
• Link Aggregation
L2 Control Protocol Tunneling.
• Some L2 protocol (PPDU) must be authorized to passthrough
• On the WTM performing the aggregation (Master), the L1LA interface as well as the physical interface
connecting to the customer equipment will both be set to forward LACP frames as shown below
