DEFINITION OF TERMS

Community engagement - is the process of inviting community members into the decision-making

strategy to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate solutions to issues that affect their daily lives and

environments.

Entrepreneurship opportunities - are situation or set of circumstances that presents a potential for

creating a new business venture or growing an existing one.

Livelihood - is a means of making a living, it also encompasses people's capabilities, assets, income, and

activities required to secure the necessities of life.

Namnama – is an Ilokano word which means hope, a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing

to happen.

Organic - describes things that are natural or related to nature.

Sustainability - consists of fulfilling the needs of current generations without compromising the needs of

future generations, while ensuring a balance between economic growth, environmental care and social

well-being.

Sustainable development – is defined as development that meets the needs of the present without

compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainable livelihoods - a livelihood is sustainable when it can cope with and recover from stresses and

shocks, maintain, or enhance its capabilities and assets, while not undermining the natural resource base.
