Part A: Answer any FOUR questions.

1. Suggest at least THREE ‘inclusive institutions’ that can protect the wetlands in India in the future? (5 marks)
2. Most of India’s industrial pollution problem is due to ‘government failure’. Explain (5 marks)
3. What role corporate firms can play in making the behaviour of consumers environment-friendly? Illustrate with a suitable
example (5 marks)
4. Do you think that the current pattern of GDP growth is responsible for various environmental problems in our country? What are
your suggestions to make income growth more pro-environment and pro-poor? (5 marks)
5. How institutionalizing economic valuation of non-market ecosystem services can make environmental governance more
effective? (5 marks)
6. What are your suggestions to make citizen’s participation more effective in achieving better environmental governance in
India? (5 marks).
Part B: Answer any TWO questions.
7. Making ‘water’ a tradable commodity by introducing ‘tradable water rights’ on the lines of ‘carbon credits’ appears to be a good
proposition for the efficient use of this scarce and precious resource in India. Analyze this statement by making the best use of
theories/concepts discussed in the classroom.

8. Explain how global climate change is a ‘tragedy of the commons’ issue. What institutional mechanisms do you propose to bring
collective action among all countries to tackle climate change issues? Answer this question based on appropriate concepts/theories
discussed in the classroom.
