The astronaut Neil Armstrong

Who is the person you are talking about? I am talking about _____________________________________________.

1. Explain the difficult decision they/you had to make.

One di cult decision he had to make was

taking the chance to be the rst man to
step on the moon.
2. What guided them/you to make that decision?

Armstrong’s decision was guided be his interest for taking ight and
space exploration.

3. Analyze their/your decision-making process based on Consequentialism-future, Duty-obligations, or Virtue-wanting

to be a good person/follow personal beliefs.

I think that the ethical frame work that most strongly guided Armstrong was
the consequentialism framework because he’s stated that he felt that it was

4. What were the results of that decision?

The result of Armstrong’s decision was that he was named the

rst man to step on the moon. Also, he is famous for not only
the land but also his famous phrase “That’s one small step for a
man, but on big leap for mankind.”
5. Do they/you regret or were they/you satisfied with their/your decision?

Neil Armstrong stated that the only regret on this decision was that
his work required an enormous amount of my time and a lot of
travel which lead him to not have the time to spend the time I
would have liked with my family as he wanted.

6. If you were them, would you have done the same thing? Explain why or why not. If you wrote about yourself, would you
go back and do things differently? Why or why not?

If I were in his situation and had to decide whether or not to take

the opportunity to be the rst person on the moon, then I would
have also made the decision to go to the moon because it would
be a really interesting experience as well as to learn more things
that I haven’t ever known.
Write a paragraph explaining the decision that was made, what motivated it, its results, and whether or not you would do
things differently. It should take you about 1:30 minutes - 2 minutes to read out loud. Talk us through this decision and
explain the context.

For my ethical dilemma presentation, I chose the rst ever astronaut to ever land on the moon and explore the
surface, Neil Armstrong. In Neil Armstrong’s early stages of life he was a pilot in the Naval Air Cadets. He then

became a research pilot for NASA. One di cult decision he had to make was willing to take the risk of being

the rst human to make the journey to the moon. When he nally made his decision he chose to risk his life

for mankind and space exploration to continue. The ethical framework that I think best guided Neil

Armstrong’s decision was consequentialism because, he was willing to risk his life for mankind to further
continue their studies of space. The results of Neil Armstrong’s decision was that he was known as the rst
