I phoned and was able to contact the manager of the Langley Food Bank. From there I was able to
connect and explain my capstone project to her. She was unsure of what capstone really was, so I
explained the basic knowledge around my project. She was astonished of my project idea, and grateful for
what I was doing for her foodbank and the community. I asked the what items the food bank allows,
which consists of nonperishable items, preferably cash and personal hygiene items.
Shawna encouraged me to call her and ask her questions related to the foodbank so I could get more of an
understanding and get me in the right direction.
She ultimately gave me the run down on how the foodbank works, there’s certain qualifications you must
qualify for to become a client. Asked the availability days, she gave a schedule on what days they can
pick up and (Monday, Wednesday Friday) how often. (weekly)

She informed me on how many families/peoples actively use the foodbank.

800 family clients, 1050 people who aren’t registered who can seek the foodbank for food items.

She informed me the schedule of food drop/pickup dates, they collect and donate food daily, scheduled
times if you have large donations of food.
