Why is media literacy important?

Media literacy is important because people need to know and identify the different kinds
of media and how to properly use them. Having the ability to understand what we are planning
to send or post is a must. Since the internet is a wide array of media, it is essential for us to
know how to manage it based on our purpose of using it. We must learn how to access,
analyze, evaluate, create and manipulate media in a variety of forms to make a good thing out
of it.

Media literacy is an essential skill in this digital era. Since it is the 21st century’s
approach to education, it could help the students become more competent, develop the ability of
critical thinking and become smarter and wiser not only as a student but also as a person. It is a
crucial skill to interpret the data and information from what they see or hear from the media or
else, it would create chaos. It greatly affects on how we carry out ourselves on our daily
activities hence, let not the media control us, because we control the media.
