Capstone Project Proposal

Jeyoon Lee
Inquiry Question

How much impact does art have on society?

I am exploring this question to understand artists' societal value and necessity, especially in
the context of the economic challenges they often face.
Rationale/Context

My passion for art and concerns about the viability of an artistic career drive this inquiry. The
economic disparities in the art world, where a few thrive while many struggle, have made me
question the role and necessity of artists in society. This project will help me understand the
true impact of art and its relevance to my career path.
Background Knowledge

I have an understanding of economic inequality in the art world. High-value art markets are
often exclusive, benefiting a limited group, while many artists face financial hardships.

societal impact and economic realities will influence my decision to pursue this path or
consider alternatives.
