In the pursuit of fostering unparalleled excellence and ensuring the continuous growth of its
academic programs, Brac University recognizes the indispensable role of a robust and strategic
partnership between academia and industry. With an unwavering commitment to producing
graduates equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to thrive in the dynamic realm of
Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electrical and Communication Engineering, the
university understands the necessity of an esteemed Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) as an
indispensable conduit for forging invaluable connections between academia and industry. The
IAP, comprising distinguished professionals, luminaries, and thought leaders from the corporate
sphere, shall play a pivotal role in guiding and enriching the curriculum, research endeavors, and
overall educational framework of these departments. By harnessing the profound wisdom and
expertise of the IAP members, Brac University aims to ensure its programs remain at the
forefront of technological advancements, empowering students with industry-relevant
competencies, and fostering an ecosystem of innovation, ingenuity, and impactful contributions
to the broader society.
3. Membership Criteria: The IAP will comprise representatives from government and
non-government organizations, industries (private and public), and academia. IAP
members may include persons from foreign organizations and industries. The following
criteria must be met while selecting members for IAP:

a. Expertise and Experience: Prospective members of the IAP shall possess
distinguished expertise and significant experience (5+ years) in the fields related
to Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Electrical and Communication
Engineering. Their professional achievements, industry standing, and track record
of contributions to the field shall be pivotal factors in their selection.
b. Industry Representation: The IAP shall comprise individuals representing a
diverse range of industries, including but not limited to electrical and electronics
manufacturers, telecommunications companies, engineering consulting firms,
research institutions, and regulatory bodies. This diversity ensures a broad
spectrum of perspectives and insights.
c. Network and Connections: Members shall bring valuable networks and
connections to the IAP, enabling collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities
for students and faculty. Their ability to leverage industry relationships for the
benefit of the departments is a key criterion for membership consideration.
4. Terms of Membership:
a. Duration: IAP members shall serve for two (2) years, with the option for
reappointment based on their continued active participation and contributions.
b. Commitment: Members are expected to actively participate in IAP meetings,
workshops, and events, and to engage in ongoing communication and
collaboration with the departments. Regular attendance and active involvement in
the IAP's activities are crucial for the effectiveness of the committee.
c. Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest: IAP members shall adhere to strict
confidentiality regarding sensitive information shared during meetings or through
other channels. Additionally, members shall disclose any potential conflicts of
interest that may arise and actively manage and mitigate them to ensure
impartiality and transparency in their decision-making processes.
5. Cancellation of Membership: The membership status of IAP members are subject to
cancellation due to the following reasons:
a. Inactivity or Non-Engagement: If a member fails to attend two (2) consecutive
meetings, contribute actively, or fulfill their responsibilities, their membership
may be subject to review and potential cancellation.
b. Ethical or Professional Misconduct: Membership may be revoked if a member
engages in unethical conduct or professional misconduct that brings disrepute to
the IAP, the departments, or the university.
c. Violation of Confidentiality: Any breach of confidentiality obligations or
unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information may result in the cancellation of
membership.
Terms of Reference:
The Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Industrial Advisory Panel shall be to conduct a
comprehensive review of the Department's objectives and goals, with the aim of fostering a
culture of academic and professional excellence while enriching the realms of education and
research. Through scheduled meetings, the Department shall provide succinct updates on its
current state and progress concerning developments that impact its overall well-being.
Leveraging their expertise, the Industry Advisory Panel shall formulate recommendations for the
Department, propose actions that ensure the maintenance of the highest standards and the
continual improvement of the Department's undergraduate and graduate programs. By generating
novel ideas, offering advice, engaging in critical evaluation, providing guidance, and extending
general support, the Industry Advisory Panel shall assist the Department in strategically
positioning itself to embrace future challenges and seize emerging opportunities, thereby
preparing the engineers of tomorrow. To foster closer connections, the Department shall organize
periodic opportunities for Industry Advisory Panel members to engage with faculty and students,
fostering a collaborative environment that nurtures mutual understanding and knowledge
sharing.
Terms of Reference (ToR) by the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) members:
1. Visionary Guidance: The IAP members shall serve as the quintessential harbinger of
visionary guidance, meticulously charting the course for the departments of Electrical and
Electronics Engineering and Electrical and Communication Engineering at Brac
University. Drawing upon their rich reservoirs of expertise and industry insights, the
members shall provide invaluable recommendations and strategic counsel to steer the
departments towards academic eminence and technological prowess.
2. Curriculum Enhancement: Recognizing the dynamic nature of the engineering field,
the IAP members shall actively participate in the continuous enhancement of the
curricula offered by the departments. Through systematic curriculum reviews, the
members will identify emerging trends, emerging technologies, and evolving industry
demands. Their deliberations shall shape the curricula, ensuring that it remains adaptive,
relevant, and equipped to address the future needs of the industry.
3. Industry Collaboration: The IAP members shall foster meaningful collaborations and
partnerships between the departments and the industry, transcending the confines of
academia. By forging synergistic alliances, the members shall aim to facilitate
internships, cooperative education programs, and industry-sponsored and linked projects,
exposing students to real-world challenges, cutting-edge technologies, and industry best
practices. More specifically the members shall be involved with the students' Final Year
Design Project (FYDP) as stakeholders. These collaborations shall facilitate a seamless
Meeting Frequency:
The Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) shall hold a minimum of one meeting annually. Whenever
possible, these meetings will be conducted in person, fostering a conducive environment for
effective interaction. However, in exceptional circumstances that prevent physical gatherings,
online meetings will be arranged to ensure continuous communication. If necessary, the meeting
frequency can be increased to address emerging challenges, seize opportunities, and
accommodate the evolving needs of the IAP. Meeting notice will be given at least fourteen (14)
days in advance to when the next meeting will be held. The minutes of each meeting will be kept
and copies will be emailed to the members no later than one (1) month following a meeting. This
commitment to regular and flexible meetings ensures that the IAP remains an active platform for
productive discussions, strategic guidance, and fruitful collaborations.
1. IAP Members: All appointed members of the IAP are expected to attend the meetings,
actively participate in discussions, and contribute to the decision-making process.
2. Faculty Members: Faculty members from the departments of Electrical and Electronics
Engineering and Electrical and Communication Engineering should attend the IAP
meetings. Their presence allows for the exchange of academic perspectives and enhances
the collaboration between industry and academia.
By stipulating the quorum requirement and specifying who can attend the meetings, the IAP
establishes a framework for meaningful engagement, diverse perspectives, and inclusive
decision-making processes.
