Operating with the Unilight AS

The Unilight AS is a small, compact precision instrument for exposing an X-ray film with a
sensitometric-stepwedge (21 density steps) of highest exactness and reproducibility.

This instrument has the following qualities:

• A single switch changes the light source in the Unilight AS so that it is correct for blue- or
greensensitive X-ray films.

• A highly accurate uniformaty ratio in exposure and a most precise 21-step density (step by step
from D 0.15 to 3.0 log.) are the basis of this unit (Agfa 1 % mother-filmstrip).

• The Sensitometer requires no warm-up time.

Operating Method

To use the unit lift up the sensitometers lid in the darkroom and place the unexposed film emulsion
side down so that the edge of the film runs parallel to and against the back of the exposure area.
Depending on the type of film you wish to expose, please set the blue/green sensitivity switch to the
propper setting. This switch is located the right side of the front of the unit. It is recessed into the body
of the Unilight AS and has markings „B“ for blue and „G“ for green.

If you have made a proper exposure, the Unilight AS will emit for blue a low beep and for green a high
beep.

Changing the Sensitometers battery

• Push the bottom of the unit to the right side till the firing position
• Now plug in a new Ucar Alkaline battery
• Remove the bottom

Note: Changing batteries is important if you hear instead of one „beep“ a „waving beep“.

Excluded from our guarantee are faults and demages which are caused by improper use and / or
intervention by non authorised person.

Recycling
This measuring device and it’s accessories contains electronic components, e.g. the liquid crystal
display unit or the rechargeable batteries.

When the useful life of the measuring system draws to an end, one should not dispose of it by just
discarding it into the waste disposal system of a General Hospital or into the trash collection of a
private residence. If you do not have an established procedure for the recycling of electronic waste
then you should return the system to Iba Dosimetry where we can recycle the product in a way which
is appropriate and also respectful to the environment.
