Theoretical Probability
(Formula)
It is a statistical measure that indicates the
probability of an event happening. Known as
classical probability or a priori probability.
Experimental
Probability (Formula)
It is the probability assigned to an event by
calculating the relative frequency of the event when
the experiment is repeated many times.
Probability calculation
For the calculation of probability it is necessary to divide the
number of favorable events by the total number of possible
events. This generates a sample and, from the data obtained,
the calculation can be performed. It is expressed in
percentage, its formula is:
EXERCISE
Laura has a box with marbles that can be red, yellow, green or blue. Choose a random marble, write down
the color and save it back in the box. Do the same 20 times and write down the results in a table. What is
the experimental probability of randomly choosing each color?
Red: 2 times
Blue: 11 times
Yellow: 4 times
Green: 3 times
She wanted to do another experiment with the marbles to play with her brother, if he could not get the
green marbles on the first attempt he would wash the dishes :D, so he took out all the marbles and kept 3
blue marbles. 2 red marbles and 1 green.
What is the theorical probability that when you take a marbles out of the box it is gren?
And finally, the theoretical probability of it coming out red would be:
