socotrina is an excellent
remedy like Nux Vomica in
re-establishing physiological
equilibrium after much
drugging

Haemorrhoids
Skin affections
SPHERES OF ACTION
It acts especially upon the
nervous system, portal
system, blood and skin.
It has got special action
upon the liver and intestine.
PATHOGENESIS
When acting on mucous
membrane of
gastrointestinal tract,
it produces diarrhoea,
dysentery and haemorrhage
from the haemorrhoidal
vessels.
It affects the intestine
especially rectum producing
loss of control of sphincter
ani.
It also causes congestion
of various parts, especially
abdomen, pelvic organs and
head.
CONSTITUTION
Physical make-up:
Especially suited to old
people, women of relaxed,
phlegmatie habit.
(Not easily excited to action or
display of emotion; apathetic;
sluggish. self-possessed, calm,
or composed.)
Indolent (not wanting to
work; lazy)
weary persons (very tired)
leading sedentary life,
averse to either physical and
mental labour.
Temperament: Bilious
temperament.
Relation with heat and
cold: Hot patient.
Miasm: Psora is in the
background.
GUIDING SYMPTOMS :
Profuse jelly like of mucus
from all mucous membranes,
especially of intestine and
throat (Kali bi., Podo.,
Helleborus).
Character of pain:
Constant bearing down pain
in the rectum with intense
itching and burning in anus,
preventing sleep.
Very much tender, hot
and sore with loose stool.
Modalities : Aggravation:
From heat.
Amelioration: By cold
application.
General Modalities :
Aggravation: Early in the
morning, sedentary life, hot
dry weather,
after eating and drinking,
standing or walking.
Amelioration: Cold water,
cold weather, discharge of
flatus and stool.
Relations :
Complementary to
Sulphur.
It is antidoted by Sulphur,
but it resembles Sulphur in
many symptoms
and it is of equal
importance with Sulphur in
chronic diseases with
abdominal plethora.
