fifth day, when you are no longer bleeding, you must have a shower from head to toe

&
(wash your hair) and then you can resume your sadhana from where you left off until

31) Nirmalya - Nirmalya is the overnight remains of the flowers, leaves and other offerings

Japamāla & Sadhana Rules:

-Keep your japa bag very clean, do not let anyone touch or use your mala, keep it hidden
from view and avoid showing your mala to anybody.
-If the beads become cracked or chipped, you must replace your mala and get it
re-consecrated.

s
-Do not wear the mala on your body. Your mala must not be exposed while performing

rt
japa.

tA
-DO NOT disclose your mantra to anybody including your family members and spouse.
It must be kept secret at all costs.

ul
- On the same note, please DO NOT let anybody know among your relatives or
colleagues or friends that you are doing sadhana. Secrecy in sadhana is paramount to

cc
achieve success.
-Only use the middle/ring finger and the thumb of the right hand to touch and move the

O
beads with the mantra. The use of the index finger is prohibited as it represents
ahamkāra or ego.

&
-Do not hold the mala below the navel while doing the japa. Hold it near the heart or
above the navel. r a
-Pronounce the mantra clearly without any mistakes even if you are chanting silently. If
nt
you make a mistake, the mantra must be repeated.
-Observe silence and remove all external distractions during japa.
Ta

- Bhumi Shayana (sleeping on the floor on a kusha grass mat) is recommended during
sadhana.
ba

-Do not practice Japa hurriedly or carelessly. Do it mindfully with feeling and focus.
-Feel the power of the mantra purifying your heart, destroying your vices, removing
m

cravings, and making your mind become pure, steady and one-pointed.
bi

-If you sneeze, yawn, scratch or release gas during japa, this is considered as an
impurity. Keep a tumbler filled with water in front of you, and dip the fingers of the
a

right hand in the tumbler and apply it to your ears as if twisting them. You can resume
dr

your japa after this.

- If you need to get up in between the japa to use the bathroom to urinate, you must
an

perform purificatory rituals before resuming the japa. After you use the bathroom,
thoroughly wash your hands (upto the elbows), legs (from knees downward), neck,
Ch

mouth, face and crotch.

You will have to take a bath/shower if you have to pass stools as well. This is why we
recommend keeping an empty stomach at least 1-2 hours before you start your sadhana.
©

After you come back, you must perform steps 1 to 4 again (pavitrikarana, aachaman,
shikha bandhan and pranayam) as explained in the preliminary puja procedure. After
this, you can resume your japa.
-After completing your japa, take a few moments to sit quietly and feel the effects of the
meditation. Soak in the Divine Energy that has been created during the sadhana.
7

- As much as possible, talk less during your sadhana days so as to keep the spiritual
vibrations intact. Do not engage too much in materialistic activities, social media and
worldly gossip. Do not attend parties and luncheons. Cook your own food or eat
home-cooked food as much as possible. Try to avoid eating food that is cooked outside.
- Sadhana is physically strenuous so please conserve your energy to the maximum
extent possible during the period of sadhana. Do not get into fights, arguments and
gossip as it will deplete all the energies that you have built up during the sadhana. Stay

s
away from worldly people as much as possible.

rt
- IMPORTANT: Shaving, trimming and cutting nails, tweaking and threading

tA
eyebrows, waxing, getting a massage, getting a haircut, getting a facial, going to the
spa/beauty parlor, going on a vacation in between, traveling and indulging in all
lower-chakra activities are forbidden during sadhana. Do not indulge in anything that

ul
will titillate the senses. You must maintain mental purity as much as possible.

cc
- During japa, the back-bone should be kept erect so that the spinal column remains
straight and there is no obstruction in the flow of Prana in the Sushumna.

O
-Lack of enthusiasm, dejection, sickness, delay in getting benefits immediately, feeling
distrust towards the guru/deity, frequent mispronouncing of the mantra, and other

&
worldly difficulties act as common obstacles in Sadhana. Ignore them, and you will keep
advancing on your way. Sadhana is like an internal battle. Your mind will do everything
r a
it can to distract you and play its tricks. You must stay firm and trust in your Guru and
deity. Then you will surely be protected and see success.
nt

🙏May your sadhana be fruitful.

May the Divine Grace of Devi Kamalatmika bless you with spiritual upliftment.

There should be no slackness in maintaining cleanliness of the place and articles of worship.
Cleanliness of body and clothes is also essential. Japa is more useful if it is done in a fixed
an

number at a fixed time and place.

Keep your sadhana area very clean and fragrant as it is your sacred space where you are
Ch

going to connect with the Divine energies. And do not let anybody enter your sadhana room
as far as possible.

cc
between.

O

(5) Kamalātmikā Guided Meditation:

In this meditation, you must visualize that you are elevating your prāṇas from the
muladhara chakra (at the base of the spine) towards the sahasrara chakra (at the top of

s
rt
the head), and rotate them between all the chakras so that they get cleansed, activated
and energized.

tA
Sit comfortably and bring in a sense of calm around you. Breathe normally and slowly,
and observe the pace of your breath as you inhale and exhale. Do this normal-paced

ul
inhalation and exhalation ten times.

cc
Now slowly bring your focus upon your muladhara chakra at the base of the spine, near
the tailbone. Visualize the prāṇa shakti in the form of a divine ball of light at the

O
muladhara. Feel the warmth of this light. See it changing color from bright white to
warm red, which is the color of the muladhara chakra, with four petals.

&
r a
nt
Ta
ba

Muladhara chakra
Now visualize that you are activating this prana, and cleansing your muladhara chakra.
m

Imagine that the chakra is getting activated, it is vibrating, and the petals and opening
and closing with the vibrations.
bi

After this, move the prana shakti upwards to the swadhisthana chakra. Now do the same
a

exercise that you did in the muladhara. Imagine that the prāṇa shakti is lighting up this
dr

chakra with a bright orange hue, activating it and energizing it. See the petals of the
chakra open and close with the vibrations.
an
Ch
©

Swadhisthana chakra
Now move the prāṇa upwards to the Nabhi chakra, or Manipura chakra which is at the
centre of the navel. This also happens to be the center of all the 72,000 nadis in the body.
So here, visualize that your pranic energy is sent into all the 72,000 nadis and activate
35

them. Imagine your body starts to glow with a bright yellow aura, and each and every
cell in the body is becoming energized and activated with this pranic energy.
Feel the energy of the chakra, and imagine that it is becoming cleansed and activated.

s
rt
tA
Manipura chakra

ul
Next, move up to the Anahata chakra or heart chakra. Move the prāṇa shakti into the

cc
anahata chakra and see it change color to a bright green, vibrate it, activate it, energize
it and see the petals open and close.

O
&
r a
nt
Ta

Anahata chakra
Now go upwards to the Vishuddhi chakra. Move the prana into the throat chakra, and
ba

see it change color to blue, vibrate it, activate it, energize it and see the petals open and
close.
m
a bi
dr
an
Ch

Vishuddha Chakra
Continue your journey upwards to the Ajna Chakra. This chakra has only two petals.
Once the prāṇa reaches here, move the prāṇa through each petal while you maintain
©

your focus completely on your third eye, which is between the eyebrows. Imagine that
your third eye is now activated and feel that this chakra is brightly lit and there is a
dazzling white luminescent light emanating from it. After you move the pranic energy
through both the petals of this chakra, then go upwards to the Sahasrara chakra.
36

Ajna Chakra

s
The sahasrara chakra is the highest chakra and as you reach up here, feel the bliss and

rt
warmth emanating from this chakra. Feel you are enveloped in this light and maintain

tA
your focus here for about 20-30 seconds. Feel the chakra being activated, cleansed and
energized.

ul
cc
O
&
r a
nt
Sahasrara Chakra
After this, you will begin the downward movement of prāṇa, from the sahasrara down to
Ta

the ajna, vishuddhi, anahata, manipura, swadhisthana and all the way back to the
muladhara. Repeat the same cycle of activating, cleansing and energizing each chakra as
ba

you move downwards.

Do this for 15-20 mins, whichever is comfortable for you.
m

Once your prāṇa reaches back to the muladhara chakra, and you see the chakra brightly
bi

lit and vibrating, take a deep breath, do the ashwini mudra i.e. squeezing of sphincter
muscles, say the Hūṁ/हूँ bija mantra loudly and lift the kundalini through the sushumna
a

nadi, i.e. through the central vertebral column directly up to the sahasrara, and merge
dr

this kundalini with the brightness of the sahasrara, which is the Brahma Shakti or
Sacchidananda Brahma.
an

Rejoice in the bliss of union of kundalini with sahasrara for a couple of minutes. Slowly
bring the prana down to the Ajna Chakra, down to the Vishuddhi, then to the Anahata,
Ch

the Manipura and the Swadishtana. In the Swadishtana chakra project Goddess
Kamalātmikā out in front of you in the form of an Electric White Orb of light. (Devi is
vidyut kanti samaprabham, One who has the effulgence like that of lightning)
©

You can visualize Her the way she is shown in the Photo, and imagine that she is
burning away your bad karma, negativity, wiping out all the problems you are currently
facing in your life. Envision that with Her right hand abhay mudra she is blessing you
with all forms of opulence, money, wealth, prosperity, abundance, progeny, wisdom,
health, auspiciousness and success.
Now show the following mudras (see below) one by one in front of Goddess Kamala
37

After showing the mudras, pray to her to fulfill whatever wish you have.
Imagine that Devi Kamalātmikā is blessing you with wish fulfillment.
Bow and take Her blessings, and pray for what you want from Her.
After this, you can wind up this meditation by absorbing Her into your Heart. Imagine
Her sitting on the lotus in the ‘hridaya sarovar’ (Lake of the Heart) of your heart. Do

your japa as you establish Her in the heart.

–and then MOVE THEM a bit.

DO NOT MOVE or do visarjan of the KAMALA PHOTO or YANTRA. You can reuse the
same sadhana articles anytime you undertake to perform Kamalātmikā Sadhana in

future. On the contrary, if you do the Visarjana of the yantra and photo of Kamala, then
you cannot reuse the same articles again. It will have to be re-consecrated.

Visarjan is only of Guru, Ganesh and Bhairav. This will conclude your sadhana.

May all get success in their endeavors.
