1. Selection of Contractors
• Contractors with only proven records of safety will be engaged for
activities inside IAL.
• Hence contractor due diligence will be done before admission and
awarding a contract in IAL. A checklist-based approach is in place,
key elements covered in due diligence are
❑ Health & Safety performance
❑ Competency & capability
❑ PPE
❑ Equipment availability
❑ Sub-contractor management
❑ Risk assessment & method statements
❑ Previous safety statistics

2. Evaluation, Re-evaluation
• Established in IAL since 2019, a first of its kind Contractor Incubation
Centre (CIC) with dedicated resource to handhold contractors on safety
performance.
• Contractor safety performance evaluation (CSPE) is done periodically.
Based on the risk profile, evaluation frequency is fixed as monthly,
quarterly, half yearly.
• Evaluation criteria is broadly based on 4 parameters:
❑ HSE performance, Average CSPE score

❑ Injury free performance, 88

• Contractors are evaluated based on a benchmark score of 85%. In case a


contractor scores below 85%, they are called for a one-on-one meeting to
improve the CSPE score.
• Employee & contractor safety performance impacts variable pay of
employees.
