Asian Health Services, or AHS, was established in 1974 in response to the Asian
population's demand for linguistically and culturally appropriate treatment ("Asian Health
Services", 2021). AHS is now a publicly designated health center with three patient-centered
nursing residences, two school-based health centers, one integrated mental healthcare access
facility, and two dental treatment centers. Consequently, almost all of the area's Asian low-
income uninsured and underinsured clientele benefit from the organization and its products.
The objective of Asian Health Services is to promote Asian immigrant and refugee
patients' overall interests and access to medical treatment solutions. Servicing the community
members and providing them with the care they require has always been a challenge for the
institution due to its mission and vision assertions. One issue they have is a dearth of financing,
which prevents them from paying physicians, therapists, as well as other healthcare workers. An
additional challenge for the institution is the changing demographics of the community, with
older individuals requiring more medical services as they grow old and fresh refugees joining the
AHS is a medical establishment that takes pleasure in offering medical care to individuals
in the local community who do not have other alternatives for medical services ("ASIAN
HEALTH SERVICES – Health Care for All. Advocacy for the Underserved.", 2021). Its mission
is to support and lobby for the clinically disadvantaged, notably the Asian expatriate and refugee
communities, and guarantee that all people have equitable access to quality healthcare
irrespective of their status, insurance privileges, accent, or ethnicity ("Our Mission – ASIAN

Asian Health Services is part of the growing and evolving community. It contends against
for-profit institutions, which have a lot of resources and can afford superior technology and
advertising and promotion, which translates to more patients. The situation got more difficult
once the Affordable Care Act was implemented because individuals and groups now had access
to health insurance programs such as Medicaid and Medicare. Furthermore, this shift would have
adverse implications on their finances since some revenue comes from Medicaid or Medicare
programs. In addition, the AHS seems to have become a significant concern for individuals in
the local community who want medical attention but cannot pay it ("Filipinos Face Many
Challenges by Alma Olaguer", 2021). Consequently, it has a reputation for reaching out to
individuals who are subject to discrimination. As a result, its values, mission and vision are
focused on ensuring that everyone in their community has access to remarkable healthcare.
The values, mission and vision of AHS have an influence on the institution since it must
come up with new approaches to match its aspirations of how it should support its community
members. One strategy it has accomplished this is to raise public consciousness about the
personal care industry, which many of their patients engage in, since the constituent chemicals,
such as the volatile organic compouds (VOCs) when breathed, maybe pretty hazardous
("Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)", 2021). Ultimately, it understands that patients must
always come foremost and that assisting them is exceptionally crucial. That involves being
capable of interacting with them, delivering exceptional healthcare, and advocating on behalf of

the public with the authorities for improved legislation, particularly in regards to carcinogens in
cosmetics products. As a result, while it may appear to be a minor gesture, it establishes rapport
with the Asian community and demonstrates that AHS is committed to fulfilling their
expectations.
